[SOLVED] How to prevent website body background color from coloring my scrollbars?

I operate a website in which the body background is black. My background image has a black background. And inside the body, I place a white-background div, which carries the text. My issue is, the scroll trough is some shade of black and the scrollbar is a lesser shade of black.

On any white-body website, I have visible shades of grey and I can see my scrollbar controls.

Where do I go to apply !important CSS rules to my browser interface? I want to establish a suitable color scheme for my scrollbars that override website CSS.

//EDIT: I've found a few typos and fixed them, above. I have then added the text below:.

If I edit the stylesheet to change the body background color on the website, it affects the scrollbar coloring, and ruins the website appearance.

Only if some developer would use the Linux system colors in Firefox so that theme colors are the same in Firefox as they are in the Linux apps that follow the rules, then Firefox would be a much better browser. Is there an add-on that will resolve this issue?

Is there a CSS fix that I can apply? In past decades, websites wanted to color the scrollbars but they are the property of the user, not an extension of the website. What's become of that idea?

I keep the "Recommended by Pocket" section collapsed throughout most of the workday to prevent distractions when opening new tabs. Recently I've found the section can't be collapsed anymore. I know that I can disable Pocket on the homepage, but I don't want to do that. I still want it available for me to take breaks or when I'm finishing up with something. The collapse feature was ideal for me.

This may sound petty, but it's a real issue. I would rather stop using Pocket than let it distract me all day. I could write a bookmarklet to deal with it, but not everyone has that option.

Is there still any way to toggle this section? If not, why was this feature removed, and can this feature be brought back?

This question is also a suggestion for someone to program it into Firefox to delete bookmarks by right click, or do we have to use a different browser to have that feature?

I changed my Windows 10 default font to something other than Segoe UI because I very much dislike Segoe UI. My doing so also changed the default font in Firefox 88, which is what I wanted. When I updated to Firefox 89, the browser no longer used my Windows 10 default font. That disappointed me a great deal because I did not like the font that Firefox 89 used. When Firefox 89.01 was released, that fixed the problem, and the browser used my Windows 10 default font, which again, is what I wanted.

I have now updated to Firefox 90, and it is not using my Windows 10 default font. Instead, it is using the ugly font that Firefox 89 used. In the Firefox 89.01 Release Notes, it says one of the issues that got fixed was "Fix various font related regressions (bug 1694174)" I am not sure if that is the "fix" that allowed Firefox 89.01 to use my Windows 10 default font, but I do know that after that fix, Firefox used my preferred font.

At bottom, Firefox 90 is not using my preferred font, which is the same problem Firefox 89 had and that Firefox 89.01 corrected. Please fix Firefox 90 so I am not stuck with the ugly font that it uses.

Hi - I have been using Kaspersky Password Manager for many months, and it has great autofill capability for many browsers. It has been working great with Firefox, but as of a month or 2 ago... it suddenly stopped working. I checked my extensions and it's no longer there. When I search for Kaspersky extensions... I don't see it anymore. Only "Kaspersky Protection", etc. Does anybody know if the extension isn't available for the current Windows version of Firefox? Of COURSE it works great in the (C-Word... CHROME!) Yuk. Thanks.

When I download a file and click on the downloads button to bring up the Downloads menu, I often just want to open the Linux Mint file manager in the right folder so I can move the file to a more appropriate place.

In the menu, there's the little button to the right of the listed downloaded file with "Open containing folder", but if I click on that, FF opens the downloaded file, not the file manager.

Obviously this wasn't always like this, but I don't recall doing anything that might have caused the issue. How can I set FF back to the default action of opening the Linux Mint file manager?

Thanks!

I am an older Firefox user and I often find myself enlarging and decreasing size of fonts on different websites to make them readable. Lately I notice I am having trouble with the fonts I am using so I need advice. What are the good fonts to use for Firefox? Also, what is the setting to adjust the fonts Firefox uses in the toolbars and address bar?

I am currently using as follows: Default: MIcrosoft Sans Serif (I like the clean lines of a sans serif, but I'm not wedded to any particular one. ) Size: 10 Proportional: Sans Serif Serif: Newsreader Sans Serif: MIcrosoft Sans Serif Monospace: Lucida Sans Font size: 10 Minimum size: 9

The problem I am having is that text in the address bar is often unreadable due to artifacts that look like a digital font, you know, the blocks? If I highlight the URL inside, the artifacts clear up. I reinstalled Firefox but that problem didn't go away. I need to know which font Firefox uses for that area before I can even begin to try to fix it. Any font suggestions are also welcome. I particularly would like fonts that are readable in many sizes and free of flourishes.

By the way, I chose the image of Google News because I also have trouble with alt text showing, I can't figure out how to get rid of that so any ideas are welcome. It's just Google.

I want to set 2 preferences regarding syncing as default preference for all (new) profiles. 1. sync toolbar layout. 2. set my own sync server path.

I already know how to do this via about:config manually per user. I want to have these 2 preferences by default for all users.

On Ubuntu 21.04, I followed these instructions to the letter, but it has no effect, tested on a newly created profile: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/customizing-firefox-using-autoconfig

I created: /usr/lib/firefox/defaults/pref/autoconfig.js And it contains exactly what is in the instructions.

Also created: /usr/lib/firefox/firefox.cfg Looks like: ``` // IMPORTANT: Start your code on the 2nd line defaultpref("services.sync.prefs.sync.browser.uiCustomization.state","true"); defaultpref("identity.sync.tokenserver.uri","https://ffsync.mydomain.tld/token/1.0/sync/1.5"); ```

Then I create a new profile and check via about:config, unfortunately the first preference doesn't exist (note it doesn't exist by default) and the other is not applied, I still see Mozilla sync server path.

How can I set these 2 customisations globally. for all future users (preferably also current users)?

I'm trying to remove the shadows that appear below and to the right of the bookmarks menu in Proton (i.e. the menu that pops up when you click the Bookmarks button on the toolbar).

I've managed to remove the shadow from the main bookmarks menu using this CSS:

 box.panel-arrowcontent {
   box-shadow: none !important;
 }

However, that doesn't remove the shadow from the submenus that pop up for each folder within the bookmarks menu (see the 1st screenshot).

I'm trying this using the following CSS:

 hbox[part=innerbox] {
   box-shadow: none !important;
 }

What's puzzling is that according to the inspector window, this CSS appears to be correct. In the 2nd screenshot, notice that my rule is shown as being in effect, and overriding the original rule in panelUI.css.

However, despite what the inspector shows – the shadow is still very much there!

Has anyone succeeded in removing this shadow?
