For several weeks now, whenever I close Firefox and shut down my iMac and open Gmail the next day, Gmail seems to forget which emails I have already read, and it marks many old emails as unread. Deleting the Google cache and cookies helps, but only temporarily. This problem doesn't seem to occur when using a different browser, such as Safari, or when using the built-in MacOS email client. Therefore, I'm thinking it's a buggy interaction between Firefox and Gmail. I didn't used to have this problem, so perhaps it's related to a Firefox update? Anyhow, I'm hoping someone can help. As I was trying to access my account on Chewy.com, This message pops up: "The page isn’t redirecting properly Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete. This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies." I am hoping someone can tell me how to fix this.

On my computer, I started using a VPN and I accessed a website like Avast.com (clicked OK on their cookie privacy policy) with Mozilla Firefox after forgetting to clear my past cookies and browsing data (from before using the VPN). Could that website or Avast.com (website server) have been able to track/obtain my real IP info or location through my browser's cookies/previous browsing data (from prior, different websites that I accessed)?

Please excuse my carelessness and ignorance. I am new to this. I don't know much about computers and the internet.

Recently I have run into an issue where any site I am logged into will not save that I am logged into that site if I close the tab or window. For example, if I am logged into YouTube, exit the tab, and open the same site in another tab, I then have to log into my account again.

I am having some issues and hope to get help from the community when I open a new window and log in to www.somesite.com. and then I open another window[private] and log in to www.somesite.com i would prefer that it doesn't get me the login from the first window.

Could you kindly advise? WashingtonPost.com does NOT ask to accept cookies even after I deleted all cookies, website data and cache (but in Opera it does ask for cookies), after Firefox automatically deleting cookies and website data after closing Firefox, and after cleaning cookies, website data and cache with Ccleaner — WHY? Which mechanism of Firefox is exploited by WashingtonPost.com? And what should I do? Thank you!

With my previous browsers--such as Chrome and Brave--I could automatically get into key sites without signing in every time. I thought this was due to cookies that my login passcodes. In the case of Google, it is by far the most challenging. Despite having a gmail account since early 2003, and using Google regularly since the '90s, it persists in asking me lots of questions and texting codes, etc.

My situation with Firefox is not working smoothly as it was when I used it for many years about a decade ago. I've already imported such browser data from these sites.

Can you help? Otherwise, I'll move on to Safari again.

When I regularly clean out cookies, there is one that keeps showing up in spite of my trying to remove it. Info in that dialogue box says it has been with me for more than a week. Of course, I keep all regular Mozilla cookies, but this one is strange. It is 'about.ef2a7dd5-93bc-417f-a698-14c3116864f.' Can you tell me what this is?

I don't know in which version exactly it happened but a few weeks earlier i was able to edit cookies like we can on all other browsers, but today suddenly i cannot.

I expected it to be a simple double-click and i can edit the cookie key name or value but it doesn't let me edit, it opens the detailed view about that cookie. I looked EVERYWHERE and could NOT find any way to edit the cookies for hours and this is really frustrating as a dev. This is important to troubleshoot many kinds of bugs when I am developing an app.
