I reinstalled windows on my pc after syncing all my browser data (bookmarks etc) everything but some bookmarks, i have 4 folders and 2 of them had all that was in there and the other 2 where empty is it possible to get them back somehow?

all bookmarks have disappeared along with my passwords. how do I get them back? previous answers haven't helped. before that, I would have trouble playing video and audio together, if I turned the audio off the video would work then when I turned the audio back on the video stopped. I am about ready to delete Firefox and use another browser.

i attempted to update my Firefox this morning and the app froze and refused to reopen after multiple attempts. i decided to throw the app away and re-download firefox on my desktop, but now have no access to my bookmarks, open tabs (history) and passwords. please assist!

Hello, after a power cut I lost all my bookmarks. When I try "Manage Bookmarks -> Import and Backup -> Restore -> Choose File..." nothing happens.

In the folder ".mozilla/firefox/6924v31j.default-1728390329118/bookmarkbackups" there are several backup files, but the newest has the date Jun 25, though the name suggests it's from Jul 2: -rw-r--r-- 23850 Jun 25 13:07 'bookmarks-2025-07-02_184_mg1znof1NbBiyJ14ZcO9SluvTvLZI-rxPSm20YZUJww=.jsonlz4'

In the directory ".mozilla/firefox/6924v31j.default-1728390329118" there is also places.sqlite from Jul 4 11:59 (that was the moment when the power was cut).

How can I restore my bookmarks?

I did my monthly Norton 360 system scans and updates last night, and maybe it is coincidence, but all of my Firefox bookmarks are now missing, and there is no browsing History showing. I have tried the import/restore steps but each date I try to restore from I get an error message - "Unable to process the backup file".

Hello, I'm a few weeks late signing back into my Mozilla account after deletion email called for the last day as June 10th. Considering I travel alot for work, I didn't sign back in until now. So, I have an emergency issue...

I was using Firefox earlier today and for some reason, I don't remember why, but my computer had two "Firefoxes" at the same time—a closed one at its normal position on the dock and another "new" one that was opened to the right of the divider next to the trash can on the doc. It was probably some minor issue and I know sometimes my computer will open two of the same app simultaneously for games and stuff. However, here is where the issue begins. So, I, for some reason, moved the Firefox that was closed and at its normal position on the doc into the trash can and I moved the Firefox that was newly opened from the position right of the divider into the place where the original Firefox was. I then emptied the trash can. Later that day, I opened up Firefox as I usually would and went to check my saved tab groups and there was absolutely nothing there. I went on a few forums and listened to directions and input code into the Firefox console and still nothing turned up and nothing worked. It seems as though my extremely important and crucial saved tab groups are unrecoverable.

I would like to know what happened and how to recover my saved tab groups if possible. Thank you all for your help and taking time to read this message!

hey, I update my laptop windows, after updates when it restarted I have signed in to my account but bookmarks wasn't recovered. It was totally gone. I want my bookmarks back it is really important to me.

Why was my browser upgraded. Did you save my configuration before upgrading? How do I get my info back? I didn't set up a account with my previous account. I did setup a account with the new upgrade when I noticed all my passwords were gone. How do I get my info back

I only discovered the tab groups function within the last few weeks, and upon finding, I moved dozens of open tabs into organized groups. On using the feature, I noticed the ability to save and close groups and that I could recover those closed groups by using the arrow in the browser toolbar.

When I got to my PC this morning, my desktop had restarted or hibernated or something; when I started it up, Firefox was open which is unusual as I don't have Firefox set to open on startup - usually so I can restore sessions after crashes. All of my previously open tabs were open, but none of the closed, saved tab groups are visible. I cannot find any of the dozen or so closed tab groups and it appears I've lost easily hundreds of tabs.

I tried looking at the session backups but it seems because Firefox was open on start, it overwrote the previous session data. Is there any way to recover those saved groups or am I SOL?

Hate the "puzzle piece." Involuntarily upgraded to 115.25.0esr and it lost all my bookmarks, addons, history. How do I know which profile was the most recent, before the update added a new profile? How do I find my addons from the previous version? history?

The recent update has basically wiped out my Firefox information and set-up. I have a lot of critical links set-up in my new tab. It is imperative I get them all back please. This is terrible for me.

I have already done the about:profiles, made new profile, used the file named old Firefox files (dated 03-25-25) but end up with the same crap coming up. How is this possible?

The initial problem I was dealing with was FF kept directing me to Youtube every time I clicked on a NORMAL link in my google search. 🤷‍♀️ I tried several different links but same result....Youtube again!

This is where I went down the rabbit hole. 🙄 My first step was to get some help with my Firefox browser for this 'redirecting' issue. Under the help heading, "More Troubleshooting Information" I found "Give Firefox a Tune-Up using Refresh". Hmmm, maybe this will fix the issue?? I carefully read the following before proceeding....

"Start fresh to fix performance issues. This will remove your extensions and customizations. You WON'T LOSE ESSENTIAL INFORMATION LIKE BOOKMARKS AND PASSWORDS."

WRONG!!! MISLEADING!!! LIES LIES LIES!!! 😡😤😡

I lost almost ALL of my saved bookmarks except for TEN (the most recently used) that still remained after the refresh was completed! I literally lost over a hundred of them that I had accumulated while using Firefox for so many years!! 😲😣🤦‍♀️ 21 different folders, Home, Travel, Shopping, Banking etc, each containing 10-30 OR MORE bookmarks to sites I need to SAVE to be able to revisit later when needed. ALL GONE!!! 😡😤

I have been loyally using ONLY Firefox as my browser for 2 decades!! Now the only thing I can say about Firefox is a whole lot of curse words!!

WHY WOULD FIREFOX INCLUDE SUCH A #$@&! STATEMENT??? "You won't lose essential information like Bookmarks and Passwords"......YES YOU WILL!!!

This NEEDS TO BE REMOVED!!

Why not be an honest and reliable browser?? Include information that if you perform a refresh, you WILL lose these essentials but you might possibly be able to recover them from hidden files somewhere, but you won't easily know where to find them!! 😉

The next time I have ANY issues using Firefox I won't be 'refreshing' nothing at all!! I won't troubleshoot NOTHING!! I will just copy and save all of my bookmarks and SWITCH TO GOOGLE CHROME!! 👍
