Gentile Team Mozilla, vi scrivo per sottoporvi una proposta che ritengo molto importante per migliorare l’accessibilità e l’inclusione digitale: l’implementazione della funzione “sottotitoli in tempo reale” direttamente nel browser Firefox. Questa funzione, già presente in Google Chrome, permette di generare automaticamente sottotitoli per qualsiasi contenuto audio o video riprodotto nel browser, indipendentemente dalla piattaforma o dal servizio di origine. Sarebbe quindi estremamente utile per tutte le persone sorde o con difficoltà uditive, ma anche per chi vive in contesti dove l’audio non è sempre disponibile o utilizzabile. Introdurre i sottotitoli in tempo reale su Firefox rappresenterebbe un passo decisivo verso l’accessibilità universale, garantendo a milioni di utenti la possibilità di fruire dei contenuti online senza barriere. Una funzionalità simile non solo rafforzerebbe la missione di Mozilla per un web aperto e inclusivo, ma darebbe anche un segnale concreto di attenzione alle esigenze reali delle persone. Dear Mozilla Team, I am writing to propose an important feature that would greatly improve accessibility and digital inclusion in Firefox: the implementation of real-time captions directly in the browser. This feature, already available in Google Chrome, automatically generates subtitles for any audio or video content played within the browser, regardless of the platform or service. It would therefore be extremely valuable not only for deaf or hard-of-hearing users, but also for anyone in situations where audio cannot be played or easily understood. Introducing real-time captions in Firefox would represent a major step toward universal accessibility, ensuring that millions of users can enjoy online content without barriers. When I press a hotkey that involves Ctrl (ie. opening a new Tab via Ctrl+T or closing one via Ctrl+W) Ctrl sometimes remains stuck until I press it again. This will cause issues ie. when I open a new tab and try to type a new address (or search term), and Ctrl causes new hotkeys to be executed.

I've even tried launching firefox with a new profile, and on safe mode (firefox --safe-mode -p <something-else-than-usual>), so no bookmarks, cookies or extensions should be causing this, and it will still happen sometimes. The annoying part is that this seems to be an issue with performance. It happens less-often with the empty profile and safe mode, but it still happens, especially if I had just opened a new page some tab, causing the most minute thing for firefox to process.

The problem is probably not the computer specs either (below my specs). Indeed, from what I can tell, firefox does not even seem to function particularily slow in any case. Just this ctrl being stuck seems to happen.

I have also tried disabling hardware-acceleration (and explicitly enabling it), no effect.

Other interesting facts I've discovered: - This for sure does not happen in other programs and - This does not happen with the Ctrl for all the keybinds within firefox. For example, Ctrl+A (for select all) does not trigger this

(I have no idea why it's reporting that I'm using Sway, I'm most certainly only using labwc, maybe labwc just reports sway for some programs for compatibility) I've installed firefox from pacman, and my current version is firefox 134.0.1-1

Is there a way to customize keyboard shortcuts through about:? If there is, it should be explained here, or if it's explained somewhere else, there should be a link here to that page. There are some utilities that are supposed to do that. One of them worked through Tools > Options, which doesn't exist anymore. I can't figure out how to use it. Another add-on lets you add shortcuts, but doesn't let you delete an exiting shortcut. I want to remove the keyboard shortcut for Ctrl+Shift+A. I have no idea how to do it.

Why Firefox lacks having right click option (context menu) for multiple search engines like Chrome (Chromium browsers) and Edge has somewhat "Chrome-like omnibar in Mozilla Firefox"?

If I am using a certain search engine as default but don't use it all the time or want to use another without changing the default search engine or want to search a term or sentence via any search engine, then Firefox has no such option or addons (yes, checked thoroughly for latter).

Opera has from day one, Vivaldi also has it, Chrome allows it via extensions, Edge does via addons, Brave as chrome does via addons, Naver Whale (South Korean browser, underrated, seriously) has options to put more than 1 search engine for search results.

Why Firefox is seriously so old and outdated and nowhere close to standards of 2024 and 2025?

Somebody made a post 10 years ago around 2014 🤯🤯🤯 and Firefox, as usual went their way as they are doing now.

I always use the middle mouse button (pressing the scroll wheel) to open and close new tabs, but since the update, it doesn't work anymore and now types "=" if the cursor is in a text field. For context, I use an MX Master S3, mapped with Logi Options+.

Anyone else having this issue? How do I roll back to the previous version??

SOLVED: It was a bug with Logi Options+, not Firefox. When I hovered over the tab for the presets I had for CaptureOne, I noticed it also said Firefox. So seems something weird happened there. Deleted that preset and the issue in Firefox went away.

I couldn't find a way to delete this thread, though.

So im playing this browsergame but everytime i press ctrl+w it closes the tab because thats the bind for closing tabs. This is very annoying so i would be glad if yall could help me out here

I own a website that has chat rooms for each of my advisors. As of 2 days ago they are all having issues. I have them login with Firefox but now asking them to use Google Chrome...............low and behold it works

Whats the issue as i believe it started with the latest Firefox update

I find the new split view feature to be great, however I do find some basic keyboard shortcuts missing.

Things like: Focusing the other view Closing a view Splitting

Would be great to have these basic ones.

When a tab is opened or moved into a new window (image 2.png), the additional windows will disappear from the Windows taskbar after a few moments (image 3.png) and cannot be accessed via Alt+Tab, the only way to reach that window is via dragging the windows around or with the Firefox View tab.

I use Firefox in Linux and Windows. On Linux I can quickly and easily go to the last tab used by typing ctrl-tab (it even allows me to go to the 5 tabs used before the last one used).

How do I do this in Firefox on Windows? Nothing I've tried seems to work.

I love FF and I appreciate the intentions behind the new update for quick/custom search engines in Firefox 140, but I can't help but notice that the new UI for custom search engines requires the user to manually click on various buttons and does not allow one to navigate the process via keyboard only. (Unless I'm missing something?) Prior to this UI update, I was able to fully navigate the drop-down and select my custom search engine of choice using only my arrow keys and enter key. Now, the "search with XYZ" button that pops up if you type the site name is only selectable if you click on it, and cannot be highlighted with the arrow keys.

I am not personally disabled in a way that prevents me from using my trackpad, but having to stop what I'm typing and go out of my way to click on various UI elements is a real stymie in terms of flow, ease of use, and efficiency. At least for me.

Is there some kind of secret key combo I can use? Or an about:config setting to enable keyboard navigation in custom searches? Is it a bug? Or simply the removal of a feature?

I hope I will be able to use my arrow keys to select my search engine again in the future— Thanks
