So today I was using firefox for work with multiple tabs open, I try to open a new tab and I get this message " Restart to keep using firefox"
I have updates set to "Check for updates but let you choose to install them" And the browser was fully updated to the newest update apart from this newest one?
Every time I try to open a new tab I keep getting this message mean I was unable to save my work and lost multiple tabs ?
Can someone explain this ?

Please advise how to disable automatic updates on Firefox running on Linux Kubuntu. Solutions posted on mozilla.org do not work because stated disable options are not available(see screenshot). I have set app.auto.update to false in about:config but this does not disable updates. I have been repeatedly advised not to disable updates so I am aware of the so called risk. I am very tired of every update breaking a reliable browser and having to repair/fix/workaround each and every time. Please provide a viable solution.

Unfortunately, it occupies a very high amount of cpu above 88% and memory above 700 MB with two or three open screens and has a very high battery consumption, consuming more than 41% of 100% battery in less than an hour. Also, I used it a lot in Windows 10 and it was not like this at all, and its automatic update was perfect in Windows 10, but it does not work in Windows 11.
