Hello! Since the latest update to Firefox (153, I believe) my Firefox has not worked. It starts up perfectly fine, but quickly freezes, becomes non-responsive, and needs to be closed. No matter how many times I attempt to open it, the same thing occurs. There’s been been occasions where it hasn’t frozen immediately so I have been able to turn off hardware acceleration as well as remove my theme and disable all my add-ons/extensions, but this has done nothing. Creating a new profile does not help, nor does trying Safe Mode: the same thing happens no matter what. I tried to reinstall the update, but this also did nothing. I haven’t yet tried to uninstall & reinstall or do a Firefox refresh as those are my last resorts and I won’t do them unless I’m sure they’ll make a difference. I haven’t downloaded any new extensions recently, and this only started happening after the most recent update. I’m not sure what else I can try at this point, and am very frustrated.

So I know these websites are kind of crap anyway, but I have issues with scrolling bsky.social (and other clients for it like witchsky) and twitter. The further into the timeline I get, the more frequently these webpages lag.

They begin freezing every few seconds for a few seconds, during which they queue left or right clicks, page up/page down, and various other commands, only processing them once it unfreezes. Firefox itself still works during this freeze, e.g. opening the main menu. Also, I can still scroll up or down to a limited degree, though this just exposes empty, unrendered webpage until it unfreezes.

bsky.social has had this problem for a long time, but twitter only recently developed this issue after I had to do a cache clear, cookie clear, etc. trying to log in a few weeks ago. Prior to that it didn't have this issue.

Task manager hasn't really helped elucidate what's wrong, so it might be an about:config that I set or even an unruly extension, but I really don't know what to try.

Been using Firefox for over a decade. But lately is has become so slow now. Often freezes up if more than two tabs are open or a website is in any way very complex. What settings and issues should I check? What has changed? I can run the same sites on Brave and Edge browsers with no issues or not nearly as slow and bogged down.

When I click it, it opens a blank page like the one in the screenshots, and the tab completely freezes — I can’t go back, forward, or even close it. Even if I close the browser, it keeps running in the background. There are no extensions enabled (I’m using troubleshoot mode). windows 10 64

Hello, I'm on Firefox Nightly 152.0a1 running on a freshly installed new Windows 11 version. I've used Firefox exclusively for my whole life and everything has always been smooth until a few days ago. Firefox started (and continues) to freeze for a second or two pretty regularly, each time I use the search bar for example, open a new tab, while a page is loading (which is very slow at the moment) but also scrolling on a page for example. During the freezes, the temperature of my CPU also increase by approximately 20°C. CPU usage in task manager shows that it is quite high, 10x higher than Edge that I opened for comparison only : https://i.imgur.com/enuMMZl.png.

I have sought the internet for advice but nothing changed this behaviour. I updated my computer through Windows Update, my drivers through Driver Booster, I disabled hardware acceleration on Firefox, I removes all AI components with zoicware/RemoveWindowsAI on GitHub, I changed dom.ipc.processPriorityManager.backgroundUsesEcoQoS on about:config to false but nothing cured the problems.

I'm out of solutions and I don't know if I should be waiting for another Nightly build (usually there's about 1-2 a day but 152.0a1 is sticking since a few days and there isn't any update available since, seemingly), if there's others energy economy parameters I could play with on Windows 11 that I don't know about or if something else is in the way. Any help very appreciated, thanks!

Hi! We have automated tests that run in Firefox across a large number of instances. There are about a hundred nodes where the browser is launched. For security reasons, there is no Internet access. When the browser closes, requests are sent to 146.75.117.91. Since there is no Internet connection, the request fails to complete, and the process terminates due to a timeout. Because the browser is controlled by geckodriver, the `driver.close()` call fails with an error. I’ve tried numerous browser startup options, but none solve the problem; the process still crashes. The only thing that works is blocking the IP address at the firewall level or in the `hosts` file. However, I’m not happy with this solution because it would need to be applied to a hundred nodes, which would create scalability issues down the line. Are there perhaps any options I missed? I also found these addresses in `omni.ja`. Could it be that they are hardcoded and cannot be changed via options?

On a new laptop with Win11 Home (x86-64) with Firefox just installed, the cache size is 54 MB. When Privacy and Security -> Clear Browsing Data is clicked, Firefox hangs - no input is accepted and nothing appears to be happening. On closing Firefox and then reopening the cache size is reduced and Clear Browsing Data operates as expected.

Why is the cache size (54 MB) so large? Why does Clear Browsing Data hang Firefox?
