Sure, I can select a profile at startup and/or with the ProfileManager. But let's be frank, if you're keen to work on two profiles and switch quickly (like work and play say) with different, independent histories, tabs, add-ons and more, i.e.e different profiles quite secure from one another, then we'd also like to be able to switch quickly between them from the UI, a button on the toolbar perhaps.
It looks like once, there was a plug-in that did that:

but I can't find one now, and so I'm left wondering:
1) is that because I haven't found it yet? or 2) Is that because none exists? And if so: Is that because it's not possible to write such an add-on?
I just wonder if there's some technical reason this can't be done that explains why it perhaps hasn't been.
Simple toolbar button to close this profile and open another. Ideally of course without a complete restart of Firefox, but including one of course if that's inescapable (though one might ask Mozilla to support holding two or more complete profiles/contexts open in memory at once)

Google has taken over my computers, and have control of my browsers, phones, all my devices to include my printer. I just want to completely clean Firefox but there are files that they have made unavailable for me to delete. They went into my windows system files and loaded me down with add-on's and are using Parental Controls to limit my access to my own computer. Maybe it would be better if I closed my account and opened a new one after all my devices are clean, and back in my full control?

I manually installed Firefox Quantum (60.0.2) from the tarball. After unpacking, I copied all the files to /opt/firefox. Now the application icon doesn't show up in the Launcher or Taskbar when I launch FF. How do I get it to appear? I can find a few versions of firefox.png on the system - I assume it's just a matter of getting the icon into the right folder. But which one? I'm running CentOS 7 with the default desktop and theme, etc.

in the last months Im having lots of FREQUENT crashes. I dont know why.
it often crashes (even 20-30 times a day), mostly with an empty page (#argh this page was closed), sometimes the program closes by itself, I restart it, it goes for some minutes or even less, and the the problems are back again.
I tried many solutions: I reinstalled it, I tried the safe modus (it crashes thesame way), disinstalled all the plug ins. disintalled the firefox accelerator. tried windows10 compatibility solutions, I created a new profile. i have the latest version, of course.
I have these issues ONLY with firefox. maybe is the 64 bits version? my laptop is 2 year old.
it does not get any better with the above solutions.

I installed the HotSpot Shield add-on to my Firefox browser and whenever I enable it, every website (even ones I've never been to before) show an 'Insecure Connection' page error. I have Avast Premium, but I tried disabling every feature on it, including manually unchecking the 'Enable HTTPS Scanning' option. Nothing has worked. Also, I don't have Avast's VPN feature. Likewise, whenever I toggle HotSpot Shield off, I can access websites normally.

When I first spotted it, I attempted to uninstall it with CCleaner and all reference to it seemed to have disappeared but it still comes up when I try to open Firefox.
A web search (using another computer) has failed to provide an answer to getting rid of this program that I am capable of following.

I used firefox to upload a 7z file into a website. Some time later I was reported the 7z file was returning CRC errors when decompressing. After downloading it from the website and comparing it against the original 7z (raw byte comparison) file I discovered a large section of the file, near the bottom, was replaced.
However the worst part is not that the file was corrupted but that the data inserted on the file contains user information. On thie section I found several strings matching all sorts of things:
- URLs I have recently visited
- Search bar history (searches I have recently done on google)
- Login details saved on my firefox
- part of pages I have recently visited
Is this a known issue? This is a big deal for me and I will stop using firefox until this is fixed.
I am using 60.0.1 (64-bit) over win8.1.
