I have reverted to 3.5 because the latest versions of FF include some nonsense called plugin-container. FF was brilliant prior to the plugin-container but now it is noticeably slower.

Are there any early versions of 3.6 without the plugin-container available for download.

Can someone fix the plugin-container nonsense. FF was perfect prior to the plugin-container

why did you start using plugin-container.exe. It is constantly causing crashes on my computer proven by when I install firefox 3.6.4 or .5 or .6. the program also frequently uses 3.5 gigs of memory. When I remove firefox and install an older version that doesn't use it I have lots of memory left and no crashes.

I look at the forum and see all sorts of problems being talked about when people make the switch from FF3 to FF4, and I don't want the aggravation. So I'd like to try out FF4 and work my way into it while still being able to use FF3 which I know works well and doesn't give me any hassles.

I'm afraid that if I install FF4 then I'll no longer be able to use FF3 and I will have to fiddle with FF4 for days and days to get it to work properly, and during that switch-over period I won't be able to access the internet as easily as I can now with FF3, and will lose valuable time and get frustrated and wish I hadn't made the switch in the first place. I've had that problem in the past when upgrading an earlier version of FF and it was very frustrating indeed.

So to put the question again, can I install FF4, but be able to continue using FF3 while getting FF4 configured and fine-tuned with all the features, layout etc. that I want (a process which, in my experience, always takes more time than one would have thought)?

I was happy with the old version of Firefox I was using, but I wanted to install an addon that required a later version, so I "upgraded". Prior to the upgrade I has white text on a black background set as my default. After the upgrade those settings were maintained, *except* in most web text-input boxes (such as the text-box on teh Google main screen). These boxes either became reverse colored (e.g. black text on white background), or even worse, bleck text on black background, so the text is invisible. (This happens on secondary Google search pages.) Very annoying and not very useful.

Also, buttons like the Google search and "I'm feeling lucky" buttons are showing up blank, as does the "submit" button on THIS page. And on some sites "captcha" boxes are invisible, making it impossible to register or login at those sites.

How do I fix this?

I've seen a number of suggested fixed for similar problems, ranging from editing the userChrome.css file to using "Stylish" to install overlays. None of these fix the problem. They either don't work at all, or they are overkill, changing a whole bunck of -other- things that I -don't- want changed. Also, they all seem overly complex for a problem that SHOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED IN THE FIRST PLACE. An upgrade that trashes my installed settings isn't an "upgrade", it;s a downgrade.

I just updated to firefox 3.6.8 this morning after getting prompted to update as I started firefox. The firefox update successfully installed page said that I should update to the latest adobe flashplayer, so I did that as well, although that installation failed for whatever reason. I figured that I would update it later. I started watching live streaming videos on a website, and it was working for awhile, but firefox started to not respond. I tried opening up task manager, but even that started to lag and took minutes to open. The problem seemed resolved for awhile, but firefox started to not respond off and on, task manager stopped responding completely, explorer crashed, and my computer blue screened. It wouldn't even get off the blue screen after minutes of waiting, so I shut my laptop down manually. I'm positive that this couldn't have been a virus, since I only visited my usual websites, and I have both adblock plus and noscript installed. As for my laptop now, it won't boot to windows vista. I tried the hard drive test and failed. Now my laptop isn't even able to turn off no matter how long I hold down the power button. It's not an old laptop, so I doubt that it was just time for it to die.

I have always been a fan of firefox, but this is just horrible. I don't know if it was firefox's fault but it sure seems like it...

I'm currently on my older laptop, since my other one is obviously dead now. My broken one had vista installed and again, firefox 3.6.8 version.

For the past couple of days Firefox always redirects to a blank page when I try to visit any page on www.kongregate.com. When I use IE tab on the blank page it comes up with the url "wyciwyg://#/www.kongregate.com" where # is a number that changes occasionally. I've tried deleting my Firefox cache and uninstalling/reinstalling Firefox with no success. Kongregate.com is the only site I know this to happen on and this is the first time I've seen it do this before. It was fine two days ago and I haven't installed a new add on in months.

So, a lot of people are frustrated that their firefox is making weird noices so I thought it would be a good idea to explain to everyone whats happening.

These "weird" sounds you hear are from pacman. Today is Pacmans 30:th birthday and google wanted to celebrate by making the pacman game playable at their website "www.google.com". You will notice that their logo is changed to pacman with the map swapped out to the text "google". The game will probably just be here today so all noises will be gone by tomorrow. If you don't want to hear the sound today then please don't visit google or just turn your volume down.

Also, it looks like the google toolbar plays the pacman sounds too but I am not able to confirm this.

Before installing the Firefox v3.6, my quicktime plugin was working. After I installed v3.6, the quicktime plugin didn't work. I tried to uninstall v3.6 and installed back v3.5, but the quicktime plugin is still not working. How can I make it work again or how to fix this? Thanks.

Is there a way to undo the installation of Firefox v3.6, meaning to remove any traces of Firefox 3.6 installation, because this problem only came after I installed Firefox 3.6.

I'm able to play streaming videos from websites (e.g. http://www.singingsuccess.tv/videos/?vid=251) BEFORE I installed v3.6. AFTER installing v3.6, the streaming video now shows a blue Q with a question mark in the center. I tried to uninstall that version and install back v3.5, but the problem still exist.

When I updated to firefox 3.6.6 it will not start again I just get a blank screen and then it says firefox dont answer. I did also try to install it manualy by downloading the update file but it was the same. Have installed 3.5.10 again and it works just perfect.

When firefox automatically upgraded me to 3.6.4 a lot of the flash stuff I was working on stopped working. The flash files wouldn't even start up. They all worked fine on the previous version of firefox I had. I just downgraded to 3.5.9 and they work fine again. The flash also works fine on multiple versions of Safari, IE6,7,8, and chrome.

I have firefox 3.6 installed on my system.I uninstalled it and during that i created backup of bookmarks.Didnt realize in wht format it was saving them. After reinstalling firefox 3.6 i restored from the backup file.Two three days later my pc screwed up.I had to redo windows and now after installing 3.6 when i went to restore boookmarks the file of unknown format and it fails to restore.

I use FF 3.5.19 and it works fine but support has ended. I have tried various 3.6.xx and now 4.x and they all do the same thing. Whenever I select tools...options, nothing happens and if I wait a few minutes or click the mouse I get "not responding" in the top bar. FF also freezes on downloads. I would love to get this sorted out, I really like FF. I've tried to get answers in the past and have done what was suggested but nothing worked

It says it will disable my antivirus. And then it doesn't give youo an option to not install. It just keeps bugging you to install it. Try fixing it before you release it.

Immediately after I did I put a copy of places.sqlite from my profile in a safe place. places.sqlite seems to have thousands of urls in it. I am running 3.5.9 on FC11 (yeah I know I should upgrade but can't at the moment). Therefore I don't have "Help > Troubleshooting Information" available to me. Is there anything I can do (like upgrade to 3.6) to get the tabs back or are they gone forever?
