How do I change the view to something I stumbled across in firefox that I can't replicate, foind any help on, attach a picture to show you or contact you about.
Really, really bad support. have been at this for 20 mins . . . just spinning my wheels. And it does not help that your support function does not include ability to send pictures or files. That picture is Thunderbird... This is listed as Firefox. I have changed the details to Thunderbird.
That image you have is Thunderbird showing a thread of messages when you click on the collapsed thread.
I have no idea how you navigate your mail without a folder pane visible, but the squiggly line to the very left of the message line is where you click to expand the thread.

It is the triangle next to the subject that expands the thread. The squiggly line indicates it is a thread. See the two examples in the image
