Hello I have seen a handful of things change in the last week or so using Firefox. I looked in my extensions and have two that look like something malicious. and more strange is running a search on its name on Google, reveals NOTHING online anywhere? does anyone know why this would be?

I also seem to have attached to my browser, some sort of ad ware garbage. "You may be seeing ads as part of our advertising solution for Internet properties (such as websites or web browser extensions). This solution provides content at no cost to you and displays advertisements during your web browsing experience. It was installed by you, or someone using your computer. You currently have the following software installed: safesaver extension

it gives instructions on how to remove safesaver from my programs but its not there. Google is redirecting and giving jaded inaccurate paid ads that are irrelevant.

Most perplexed in the extensions. CouppExxtension 1.3 GareaTSuave 4u 2.3

and why I see nothing on them. I removed the bad extensions and the browsing seems better... I lost a cool little toolbar along the top with options to diplays html, and displays your saved passwords...I forgot what it was but would love it back. any ideas would be great Thanks T

Hello ARTWESTsports, sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

thank you

What are the names? Have you tried to search for them on the web?

Did you try to first of all try to uninstall the unwanted software using Firefox and using the Windows 7 control panel.

Secondly did you follow the suggested instructions above from ideato.

What happened ?

That tool-bar you talked about, what was it called? At some point, open Windows Programs and Features and see if anything is listed that you don't know about. Post anything you find here. Don't remove them yet!

You can also look at:

Extensions that do not have a "Remove" button are installed by other software and are not under control of the Firefox extension manager.
Such globally installed extensions are usually found via a registry scan or are installed in a location that Firefox scans for installed extensions.

Extensions installed this way need to be removed via the settings (options/preferences) of the program that has added this extension or you need to uninstall this program via "Control Panel > Programs".
In Firefox you an only disable such an extension.

thank you for your suggestions. When I was in my Control Panel earlier, I was looking for something particular....not CouppExxtension 1.3 or GareaTSuave 4u 2.3

When I went in again there they were.

I uninstalled-deleted them. I hope this was the ok thing to do cor-el

I took a handful of the links for malware removal removal from ideato email. I ran a couple of them and their results were nothing. I ran Regclean pro... with multiple indications of infection. I ran hitman Pro and it's also yielded many hundreds of errors. When I attempted to fix the errors by Registering the product and confirming my email, my computer was forced to shut down. With a pc message from hitman exclaiming malware and viruses were found and a restart was necessary. Since that happened the process of me cleaning it up or running the free trial with hitman Pro, I thought all of the data collected and the process of cleaning was gone. I re-ran another scan upon my computer starting hitman again and it yielded 7 threats detected, and everything cleaned. I reran Reg clean pro. It still yielded 487 errors. I will keep trying other things above. Cor-el this link took me to the site...I downloaded the tool...it sent me then to a 502 error. http://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivirus/Removal-Tools/AdwCleaner.shtml

I would not at the moment worry about potential registry errors or modules that can not be found.
