Each time Firefox open a file chooser: - when trying to choose the folder location to download a file. - when clicking on Firefox-> Save Page As - when trying to import bookmarks (import or import from HTML) - when using the Firefox user profile Tools, trying to change the profile folder - etc ...

it crashes instantly.

Same behavior: - in normal mode, - in safe mode, - in normal mode, with all add-ons removed, - fresh installation with new profile

OS : Window 8.1 up to date Firefox 25.0.1

Good idea, unfortunately Windows is already reinstalled. And now Firefox is working correctly.

Thanks

Hello,

Thank you for reporting this bug. I don't have a Windows 8.1 to try this issue on and this could be related to Windows 8.1 specifically. So, to help narrow the problem area - can you please confirm if you are seeing issues on a Windows 7 machine (if you have access to one). That way, we can try the same scenario on a Windows 8.1.

Also, would you be willing to try the Still-in-testing Firefox Nightly builds on a Windows 8.1? Again, if you are not sure of how you can run both the stable and the nightly versions together, you can ignore this request. We will check to see if someone has a Windows 8.1 to try and recreate the problem.

Thank you for reporting this issue.

Hello,

Removed all plugins, restart firefox in safe mode. Always the same behavior. Here are the crash report in this context (safe mode, without plugins) bp-dee55935-b018-4e12-82e9-ad5152131123 bp-c0bcba27-d8bc-4b95-8a4a-7df3d2131123 bp-239bf3bc-43b1-4c5c-b275-c6bbd2131123

Hello,

In fact as Firefox wasn't usable anymore and as I do not like IE, I downloaded Chrome. And in fact chrome exhibits the same behaviour : crash each time a open / save file dialogue is displayed.

So I suspect that the issue is more a Windows issue than a Firefox issue. I ll reinstall windows and see what happens.

Anyway, thanks to those who try to help me.

Regards

Crashes are sometimes caused by third party sofware or are OS related. One thing you could try before reinstalling Windows is to try running in Windows Safe Mode. You could try that without networking support and test Firefox without using the internet, or start with networking support in Windows Safe mode.

It would at least help narrow down the possibilities if Firefox runs ok in Windows SafeMode
