I am desperate to remove Delta Search from my new tab page. What do I do after I open about:config? I have done at least a dozen resets, have removed DS via add/remove, am running a virus scan at present...this is TERRIBLE, and there HAS to be a way to get rid of it. When I do a reset, the new tab page is what I WANT...my previously saved pages. However, when I CLOSE FF and reopen, the new page is, once again, Delta. Can you hear me SCREAM? Can you see my TEARS? I am really fed up. Thanks for getting back to me with a solution that WORKS. jo

As a member of the Delta Search Support Department, I am happy to answer any questions you have. The removal of our Search program is actually quite easy. If you're using FF, please follow the steps bellow:

Write in the address line "about:config" and press "enter". Confirm the message. Look for "Delta". Right-click the entries and click "Reset". Please be aware to reset only the entries that contains "browser.newtab" or "browser.search"

I hope it resolved your problem!

It sounds like you have a third party program that has taken over your search engine, home page, and/or the default new tab page. Fortunately, this can be remedied easily:

  1. At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (Tools menu in Windows XP), and then click Add-ons. The Add-ons Manager tab will open.
  2. In the Add-ons Manager tab, select the Extensions panel.
  3. Select the toolbar you wish to remove.
  4. Click the remove button.
  5. Click "Restart now" if it pops up. Your tabs will be saved and restored after the restart.

After Firefox restarts, install the Search Reset Tool. This will remove the rest of the traces of this program from your Firefox.

For further information, please read Remove a toolbar that has taken over your Firefox search or home page.

Did this fix the problem? Let us know!

You have to uninstall everything that got installed at the same time from control panel, and from extensions. If you won't do that, the settings will revert. In some cases it is simpler to use Adwcleaner or other anti-malware program.

I downloaded an update to Flash player which a website said I needed in order to view their content. Twice during the installation it asked if I wanted to install Delta Search. Both times I said NO.

Afterwards I find out that it has been installed anyway. It had taken over as default search engine so I removed it from the list of search engines. It also took over my homepage so changed that back.

And it has also taken on the New Tab function on FF. I went into Add-ons & Extensions and it isn't shown there.

Where do I go now? This is a really nasty piece of crapware & my view of the people responsible for this is about as low as it can go.

Why should we have to do this? I ticked the box that said I didn't want to install it. You, Delta Search, are a bunch of troublesome low lifes.

Did you download the Flash player explicitly from the Adobe site or did you click a links that this site provided you?

I clicked the link provided. Not again though. I'll be more careful in future. I was tired after night shift.

Delta Search Support Dept.,

I seem to have gotten success at least for now in removing that dratted Delta search bar. For now... we shall see how long this remedy lasts and if it secretly pops up again, thanks!

It could also be using another name. Sometimes it is listed as Babylon Searchbar. I had to manually edit the register to get rid of it.

Worked like a charm, thanks

Another way to, superficially, get rid of that uninvited software i.e. to stop it showing that search box is to, in FireFox: Select TOOLS from the top menu. Then select ADD-ONS Then select EXTENSIONS Then disable the name DEFAULT TAB You'll be able to confirm the veracity of this by clicking on MORE and then on the HOMEPAGE showing the web site of the ill begotten creators of this Delta software.

Good luck

Very often, it's installed by a third-party application, so the ad-on name might be different. Take a look at:

http://deletemalware.blogspot.com/2013/02/remove-delta-searchcom-redirect-delta.html

And also, scan your computer with AdwCleaner:

I hope this helps!

Neilfox: Thank you for the link for AdwCleaner, I have AVG PC cleaner now but may not purchase it in the future so this is good to have. I have since solved my problem, thanks.

That person who told you they 'worked for Delta Search' is completely full of sh*t... I'm afraid you've been hoodwinked again.. They pretended as if Delta Search is a legitimate browser, and some mysterious 'third party' had seruptitiously bundled their reputable browser into a malicious package... NONSENSE !

hat is Delta Search (Delta-Search.com)?

Delta Search, also known as the Delta Search virus, Delta virus, or Delta-Search.com redirect, is malware categorized as a browser hijacker that changes existing internet browser settings without consent. The Delta Search virus changes the home page of popular internet browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer to Delta-Search.com (and other Delta Search web pages including mixidj.delta-search.com) and the default search engine to http://delta-search.com, which in turn causes the infected internet browsers to start up on unwanted Delta Search websites and redirect to Delta-Search.com while attempting to search the web using the browser’s address or omni bar.

DeltaSearch IS A VIRUS ! So, that jerkoff claims he's an employee AT A VIRUS ?... The about:config nonsense doesn't work at all, and it doesn't begin to address the real issue at hand. Your registry has been completely compromised by this malicious backdoor dialer. To remove it, I suggest a full system restore. It's NOT just DeltaToolbar that you need to remove every trace of out of your registry ( risky if you're not a programmer ) The DealtaToolbar is also embedded under dozens of other hidden names, such as mixidj or vshare or dozens of others. I'd enjoy meeting that idiot 'I work for Delta and it's easy to remove' jackass, and secretly embed a mason jar full of spider mites down the back of his collar... MALWARE REMOVAL COMPANIES WILL TRY TO SELL YOU THEIR SOFTWARE... Simply system restore your pc to a better time from the past, before you knew that DeltaSearch existed.

WARNING Delta_Search posts are from the Virus promoters themselves. Do NOT even read their posts.

I got rid of Delta-Search by "resetting my computer to a previous date." Got to your computer manufacturer's web site, and follow the instructions. PICK a Date that is PRIOR TO the date you accidentally downloaded the Virus. It cannot be removed y McAfee or AVG.

The Pirate Bay and similar sites have "Download Here" buttons all over the place that are NOT the download button for the file you seek. Hitting any of those buttons can install the Delta-Search browser highjacker.

As a temporary fix, use Chrome of Explorer until you are able to reset your computer. If you see "Design your web site" and adds for virus removal , on your Google page, that is Delta-Search.

Again, reset your computer to a date that is PRIOR to the date you believe you downloaded the virus.

Thank you Ramjet555. Your reply was worthwhile. Keep up the good work. Ultimately my best resolution was to re-instate my machine totally from a Norton Ghost (v10) backup. I always do a backup (image type) before I install anything new. I know it takes time but I got plenty of that. Then I also reset Mozilla Firefox to where I have a clean version without any add-ons. I have now abandoned all their add-ons because they are full of malware and stuff that wants to take over my machine. Result is satisfactory. I am happy now. Thanks again. T.E.
