Firefox takes too long to load initial page (homepage) nothing has fixed it.
For the last 3 months, I have had a major problem with Firefox taking forever to startup my home page. After the initial startup , all websites load fine. So here is what I have tried. I have cleared temp files, cache and etc... I have tried the dns prefetching. I have tried changing the value in the about config option. I have changed my profile to a clean new fresh one with no history or bookmarks. I have disabled plugins and restarted in safe mode. I have updated all existing plugins/ add ons.I have deinstalled and reinstalled Firefox ( I have the latest version) I have tried Pale Moon and Internet Explorer. Both are slow but Internet Explorer seems to be the fastest right now. I have done a restore point to a time before major updates when the problem first started. I have tried all changes recommended in the aboutconfig: option. I have scanned with numerous adware and antivirus programs and nothing turns up. I have contacted my service provider (ATT Uverse) and everything of course checks out on their end. I suspect there is something with their particular server they have me on because that is the only thing in common with the browsers. Any other suggestions?

Yes, safe mode doesn't change anything
The weird thing is, if I get on the computer within 15 minutes or so after getting off of it, it will open back up fine. If I do not use the PC after 15 minutes or so, my browser takes forever to establish connection back to the server or connect online.
I have tried safe mode in firefox and safe mode in PC
Maybe is something wrong with your wifi or ethernet adapter ? Update it from windows update
Or try to change the user agent, install https://addons.mozilla.org/ja/firefox/addon/configuration-mania-4420/ configuration mania and find user agent and change for something else

Diagnostic test performed on ethernet adapter tests fine. No updates found. Ethernet connections work great. It's initially opening up the browser after PC has set idle for around 15 minutes or so. It seems to be a problem with att server talking and establishing connection through initial traffic after a period of no traffic or use by the user.
I have the same problem and tried most of the above without result.
When I log in in safe mode, Firefox starts immediately - no delay at all. Does this signify something in the trouble shooting process?
I tried the safe mode approach, unfortunately it did not work for me. When add ons were disabled due to safe mode, firefox didn't respond well at all once online, In fact is was worse than the slow initial opening problem that I am having. Maybe you're on to something with yours. The one thing that I can't figure out is that if I close firefox and then immediately open it within a couple of minutes, it comes right back up. If it sits longer than 5 minutes after I have closed it , it takes forever to reopen. The first two pages I visit (any of them..including my home page startup) take forever and a day to connect.
Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
- Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will lose all personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

- It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.
I will try this, however I believe it is going to be a problem with my DNS. Att uverse repeatedly says everything on their end is ok but they are notorious for having issues like this on their end. The reason I believe this is because I have tried browsers such as opera , google, and internet explorer and all have the same issue on startup. I know for sure that it is not my pc. It has been thoroughly checked from top to bottom by multiple professionals.
if you suspect it's an issue with your ISP's dns servers, you can also use a different dns server, like the one google is providing: https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/
Unfortunately, ATT Uverse does not allow the changing of primary or secondary DNS on their 2 wire routers. I believe I will buy a secondary router to put behind it and configure the new one to run on open DNS. This will allow me to work around those little loopholes as the 2 wire will be basically my modem then. This seems to have worked for others out there.
normally you can set the DNS servers on the level of the operating system (i don't think that there's anything ATT could do against that) - this is explained in detail in the configuration instructions at google's page from above.
I have to log in to my uverse ip address to change the settings, once I do that no change in the dns name/ address is allowed. I can't change the value or anything. It will not let you type anything there, I can't change it in the control panel because it's fixed as to the settings per the 2 wire box. This is a known issue with uverse, and customers with the 2 wire such as me have tried this. The secondary router solves this.
