Unable to delete form and search history -- And advice greatly appreciated!
Hello all,
I am unable to delete my Form and Search history in Firefox. Usually, yhe option is greyed out and will not allow me to delete. When it is not greyed out (on occasion) and I select it, Firefox does not delete my form and search history. I have trawled many forums, and see others have this issue. I have followed the steps people suggested, but like some, have not been able to resolve the issue. I have uninstalled Firefox, installed older versions, beta versions, deleted folders, etc... and nothing helps. My form and search history still shows up. This is obviously a huge concern for me.
Can any offer any help or guidance?

If you start Firefox up in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode, do you have any better luck?
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode.
To see all History and Cookie settings, choose:
- Firefox > Preferences > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history
- Deselect: [ ] "Always use private browsing mode"
It is possible that there is a problem with the file that stores the "Saved Form" data.
Rename or delete formhistory.sqlite (plus formhistory.sqlite-journal and formhistory.sqlite.corrupt, if they exist) in the Firefox Profile Folder in case there is a problem with the file that stores the "Saved Form" data.
That will remove all saved form data, so you may want to rename formhistory.sqlite to formhistory.sqlite.sav or move the file to another folder in case you need to recover some saved data.
If that has worked then you can remove the renamed files.
You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
