Can you tell us which games you're referring to?

In the meantime, Java has it's own updater, separate from Firefox. Try uninstalling it, then installing the latest version. See Use the Java plugin to view interactive content on websites.

When Firefox crashes, does the Mozilla Crash Reporter come up? If so,

1. Open Firefox.
2. Go to Help>Troubleshooting Information, then click on "about:crashes". That should take you to a page listing your crash reports.
3. Click on your latest crash report, which should take you to a web page starting with "https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/" and post the address of your latest crash report.

We can then look at the data specific to your crash and have a better idea of what is causing the problem.

Try to download the full Java version and uninstall the current Java version with JavaRa.

Let me back up a bit.... For a while now, some games would crash the system. Random games, some at yahoo, some at games.com, and other sites. I regularly play a word game at games.com and recently it would not load...I got a loading screen that would stay. I read on firefox to try to open in safe mode, which I did, and the game would not load. I checked to see if the java was working, and when I did, firefox crashed, just closed, and I got the this is embarrassing screen. So, then i figure it must be a java issue. I read that I should uninstall all old java from my system, which I attempt to do, but, one Java 6 Update 23 will not uninstall. I try to download 'update' and when I do I get varying messages ...wizard stopped working try later.....or another one. Fine, I find the beta one at java.com and download it....that takes a good 10 minutes or so, and I get the error message wizard stopped working.

I restored my computer to before I uninstalled the java, I realized I was in over my head.

I opened Google Chrome; I can run the games on that site, BUT, when I look to see if java is working, I get nothing. I tried to download the Jave SE 6 JRE from there, and waited for it to download, and then install. Again, I am given the error about the wizard.

I really am at my wits end at this point. I do not understand why the java is having such issues and how to correct them.

Thank you to all who read and respond. Knowing there are people out there that are willing to lend a hand is very reassuring.

I just went to games.com to test out a couple of word games, and both games I tried require the Flash plugin, not Java. So try:

1. Uninstall Flash.
2. Reboot your computer.
3. Install the latest version of Flash.

Thank you for answering, I had done that already. I had uninstalled the flash yesterday, and tried, I updated it today and tried. Still not working.

Susan, I was having the same issue, and even did a system restore to try to fix it. Here is how I fixed it.

I uninstalled every version of Java, and all of the updates. Restarted my system and then installed jxpiinstall.exe found on the Java website.

Once I re-installed i googled check my java version and it worked like a charm. I hope this helps, it frustrated me for a few weeks.

Your Firefox settings and info are kept in a folder separate from the Firefox program, called your profile folder. Try creating a test profile, to see if the problem still occurs. See Profile Manager - Create, remove or switch Firefox profiles.

Want to know what is really strange? At games.com, the other day no one was able to get into the just words game unless they went in through GoogleChrome. That is how I have been playing as well. Could it be that there is more an issue with the site than with my browser? I am actually thinking of getting rid of FireFox, of late it has been buggy and Chrome is rather user friendly. I await your thoughts, thank you so much for you willingness to help.

Okay, you may want to uninstall and reinstall Java.

1. Go to the SunJava Verify Version download page Here you will see a link that says "Verify Now", click on this and see if you have Java installed correctly.

2. In Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs tick the little box at the top "Show Updates". Make sure all Java/Sun Java is uninstalled.

3. In Control Panel > Internet Options go to the Advanced tab and make sure that java is unchecked (about half-way down).

4. Download JavRa Here. I am a Link.

• This site is a little busy, just click the "Free Download" Button and wait till it pops up a dialogue box.
• Download and unzip it.

5. Run JavRa:

• Click on "Remove Older Versions"
• Click on "Additional Tasks", check all except "Check for

updates" and "Open JavRa log."

6. Go to Start > Run, or press Windows and R at the same time and in the Run window type "msconfig" (without the quotes) and click OK or hit your Enter Key. In msconfig go to the Startup tab and look for 'jusched' in the list and make sure it is un-checked. Click OK. It will ask to reboot, please do so.

7. Re-boot .

8. Surf to: http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp and under the Windows section, download the 'second' file. The one for offline installation. It is a little over 16mb. Save this file to your hard drive where you can get at it, like your "desktop".

9. Make sure you install java to your certain operating system, at 32 bit or 64 bit. If you're not sure.

• Right click on the "My Computer" Icon and select properties.
• Under the "General" tab in the systems section it will tell you if your running the 64 bit windows 7 operating system. If you are, run 64 bit java.

10. Double click the .exe file you just downloaded and follow the directions for installation. Goto Control Panel and make sure you have a Java entry. Open it up and click on the Advanced tab. Open up the 'Default Java for browsers' tree and make sure that the browsers of your choice are listed and checked. If not listed you need to configure your browser.

11. Surf back to the SunJava Verify Version page, and verify you have Java installed.

12. Go back to Control Panel > Internet Options > Advanced tab and make sure that Sun Java is checked.
