Where did the bookmarks menu on the left go? (not bookmarks bar)

I restarted Firefox and am now unable to turn back on the Bookmarks menu (usually appears on the left of the screen).

I don't want to use the bookmarks bar along the top of the browser (which seems to be the only option as far as I can currently tell).

Any help appreciated!
