Mozilla Firefox (Not Responding)

Mozilla Firefox (Not Responding)

Ausgewählte Lösung

I already posted this solution in another thread in this blog... But well, no one hurts if I posted it again...

Hmmm... I believe some already have this solution... But, I want to re-post the solution i found in case somebody missing the solution to this problem...

Okay, The issue(correct Me if i'm wrong) : When you open mozilla firefox, surf for 2-3minutes and then the freezing/not responding will occur every 3 minutes or less. It say not responding, if you wait, it will take 30second - 2 minutes then it will be fine again.

If this is your issue, I have working solution.

Don't try to Install/Uninstall/Reinstall/Change version as it will be useless for this case.

The solution is actually must change the PROFILE. How to change the profile...? For Complete guide, I'm suggesting you Read this blog post as it contain screenshot or picture to aid you rather than a mere writing guide.

Note : Sometime Registry Fix may solve this problem, and disabling add-ons also may help. But, If you think you already try all method possible and has no luck, This might help you as I already confirm it. And it works most of the time.. 99.99%.

http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/?

go here and it will check if your plug ins are up to date...If they aren't, it will give you a direct link on how to update them. It will most likely be your shockwave player that you have to update. If this was your problem, it will stop the freezing/not responding problem.

Step 1: Click Update to update a plugin.

Step 2: Complete all recommended updates before restarting your browser.

I had this same issue and solved it. The problem was a registry error. Follow the instructions below to resolve it.

Go to 'Run' and open 'cmd' • Type 'netsh' in command console then press enter • Then type 'winsock' and press enter and then type reset • Restart Your PC

• Problem Is Solved :)

Possible Solution:

I went through every forum and nearly all of the possible solutions (except the ones messing with my CPI). I became frustrated and nearly went to Chrome. So I did something that I have yet to read in a forum.... I uninstalled Firefox. Simple.

1. Uninstall Firefox. Completely. 2. Use IE to download Mozilla Firefox 7. 3. Download and install the new software. 4. Configure your settings and add-ons. Make sure you have updated all of them.

Solved.

I seem to have finally found the solution that worked for me after trying every other possible solution I was able to find on every site that speaks to this issue and I am a happy FF user once again.

Source: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=270174 This workaround is recommended: 1.When Firefox is started, launch the Windows Task Manager (press CTRL+ALT+DEL, or right click the clock display on the Windows Taskbar and select Task Manager) 2.Select the process tab 3.Locate and right-click on the Firefox process 4.Select the set affinity option from the popup menu 5.Uncheck CPU 1 and validate with OK. 6.You can go back to Firefox. It is essential to change this affinity setting before loading Firefox.

I do everything that is suggested and nothing works. The adobe flash player update will NOT install. In my case that is the believed problem. I download it and click to install and it doesn't bring up the adobe window that installs the update. I am stuck in the infinite cycle because the adobe installer will not do what it's suppose to do.

I solove the problem by this way: 1. right ckick the Firefox icon. 2. chose "Run as..." 3. uncheck "protect my computer and date from unauthorized program activity". Then it goes

This worked great and was the easiest solution posted by pittsy2004. I am not sure when my registry was corrupted. Either when I upgraded to FF 10.0.2 or when MSN Hotmail updated their website. The Silverlight plugin was installed correctly.

UPDATE: This just happened again (2/27/12) when I had a failed update from NIS 2012 (Activity Map did not update). I used the pittsy2004 solution again and everything is back to normal.

Thank you again pittsy2004 for this quick fix.

Creating a new Profile had no effect. Firefox still goes into "Not Responding" frequently.

I printed out the directions you gave & in the RUN window I typed firefox.exe-p & it said it could not find that file. When I added a space between the exe & the - & the - & the p - it just booted up firefox. What am I doing wrong ? An email response to wgotto@hotmail.com would be seriously appreciated. Thanks. I'm getting ready to dump Firefox & go back to IE but I don't really want to. This NOT RESPONDING thing is getting out of control though. It's getting more & more frequent & lasting longer too. I've undated everything from Firefox itself to all my add-ons & plug-ins. Thanks again !

I think this is a windows 7 problem, " not responding " is all the net. I reinstalled installed windows 7 twice. I noticed it started after the windows updates. The one with the service pack.

I have had this problem on two computers running Firefox. I finally discovered that Carbonite Online Backup was what was causing my problem. My computers had AMD 4 core processors and I have 8GB of memory but for whatever reason Carbonite would bring it to a crawl at times. I can pause Carbonite and the problem goes away. Turn it back on and I'm at a crawl again. Just thought I'd post this in case anyone else has Carbonite running.

I have Carbonite now but this problem predates Carbonite. So I don't think that is the problem. Hey Firefox come on gang !! This is your program - how about a solution here ? Sure looks like I'm not the only pea in the pod with this problem !!

Well, I have many bookmarks in my PC's Firefox. Now that I have an iPad, I would like to import all of them to my mobile device's browser - Safari. Is it possible at all? Or - if not - how could I do it most easily, i.e. without the necessity of tiresome opening each site and bookmarking it in Safari? Sindhi Matrimonails

I think you posted this on the wrong blog. This is about Firefox freezing not importing bookmarks. sorry.

There is no pattern to this. I have been doing cross-browser testing for six months (among other things) using Firefox 3.5 through 12 on various OSs from Windows XP through 7 (and on Mac OSX Lion and Snow Leopard). Most of the machines were vanilla machines with no apps, not many add-ons (usually a screen capture one, developer toolbar, sometimes Yslow/Page Speed/Firebug at the most). I have seen the hanging on several of them but didn't keep notes as I wasn't testing Firefox per se. I hope the crash reporter is sending useful data to the developers.
