Have PowerBook G4 w/ FF 3.0.8 and have downloaded FF 3.6.11 but I don't know how to replace the 3.0.8 with the 3.6.11?

Firefox 3.6.11 is now in the Applications folder just below another Firefox icon containing Firefox 3.0.8 and a folder. I can open either Firefox application. But I can't replace the older with the newer by dragging the newer over the older. And the system won't let me drag the older (3.0.8) to the trash for a new install. I have also recently updated to Mac OS X 10.5.8 with the latest Java upgrade. It's probably some small thing but I don't have the answer. Please help if you can.
