You can force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions by deleting a few files. If one of those files is damaged it can cause problems with add-ons not working. For details see the corrupt extension files section of the unable to install add-ons article.

Yay, that fixed them all but Web Developer 1.1.8 which is flagged as "Not compatible with Firefox 3.6.10."

Thanks!

Web Developer 1.1.8 had a compatibility update that applied as soon as I checked for updates in Add-ons.

Just leaving this in case someone else experiences the same thing.

Ok. Same problem here. I fixed it by following the instructions and deleting the various extension files forcing FF to rebuild the extensions list. Web Dev wasn't working, but a restart seemed to clear up the issue. Thanx for the fix.

I've recently updated Firefox to version 3.6.10 I've 2 extensions enabled: StumbleUpon and 1Password. When I've restarted FF, it has crashed, so, this is what I've done: - Created another profile with /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -ProfileManager and enabled 1Password plugin - Firefox crashes - Removed 1Password plugin fro 1Password Preferences dialog - Firefox crashes (!) - Started Firefox with no plugin (pressing Alt during startup and selecting Disable alla plugins) - Firefox starts - Removed 1Password plugin and restarted Firefox - Firefox starts - Enabled 1Password plugin again - Firefox crashes - Removed Firefox profile and restarted Firefox - Firefox starts - Enabled 1Password plugin again - Firefox crashes - Removed Firefox profile and restarted Firefox - Firefox starts - Selected all the troubleshooting menu from 1Password (Reset folder permission - clear cache - Rebuild data file) and restarted Firefox - Firefox crashes - Removed Firefox completely (App, preferences and application support files) - Firefox starts - Enabled 1Password plugin again - Firefox crashes - Downloaded and installed Firefox 3.5.13 without changing anything - Firefox WORKS!

Now I've 2 versions of FF, one in the Application folder (version 3.5.13) and the other (3.6.10) on the desktop. If I start the one in the Application folder it starts, the latest version on the desktop doesn't work at all (note thate I've not changed any FF file in Application Support or in Preferences folder)

Any Help?

An update (with still no answer...) I've updated 1Password to the latest version but the problem is still there. If I launch Firefox version 3.5.13 it works If I launch Firefox version 3.6.10 it crashes I'm sure it's a Firefox problem...

Problem solved.

I've updated Firefox to version 3.6.11 and now 1Password works again.

The only thing is that I've received no answers here nor in Agile forum...

Nice

Hope this help

I am running 3.6.13 (have been for some time) on Win7 Pro (6.1 build 7600) and all but 2 of my add-ons have suddenly (first noticed afternoon of 4 Feb 2011) stopped working and will not run even after a FF restart and PC reboot/FF restart. (I have a lot of add-ons installed for development and other stuff.)

I have renamed and regenerated the profile folder /extension.ini, .cache and .rdf files as per other instructions here and the files apparently generated ok but still no luck getting most add-ons to run.

Interestingly, the Nokia Ovi "Firefox Synchronisation Extension" and Nokia "PC Synch 2 Synchronisation Extension" do both appear to be ok. As this seemed slightly suspicious given that no other add-ons will start, I tried disabling and then uninstalling these but neither operation will work because they will not complete the process after a restart.

The same inability to either disable or complete an uninstall was happening with the Skype extension (which I noticed had not disabled, although I thought I had previously done this) so this was the first thing I tried disabling/uninstalling due to known stability problems with it. This extension however does now seem to be disabled although not fully uninstalled - presumably because the uninstall was partly via Windows uninstaller?

The most recent Windows updates around the time I noticed the add-ons stopped working were: 3 on 7 Feb (KB2463332 [optn + impt], KB2310138 MS Sec Defn 1.97.1124.0; 1 on 4 Feb (KB2310138 MS Sec Defn 1.97.968.0); 3 on 3 Feb (KB2310138 MS Sec Defn 1.97.905.0 (failed) & 1.97.840.0, KB976902).

NB. I believe that the 4 Feb update may have caused a service start failure (ColdFusion9.01 Application Server service) due to an access permission problem - ALL of the PC users and rights (e.g. the IUSR accounts) except for baseline Administrator, my own login via domain/ADS and Guest were removed. An uninstall / re-install of the server application seems to have fixed that problem. (F$%^*ng Microsoft!)

Hope someone out there can help with ideas on fixing this?
