The new built-in VPN feature in Firefox 149.0 and later is not enabled by default as you have to do a few steps just to even turn it on. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/built-in-vpn

There has been a LOT of threads of people who were happy in having this new built-in VPN option and making feature request on it and such. This is only the second thread I have seen that thinks this built-in VPN is a bad idea and nobody wants it so you are in the tiny minority in comparison.

So you are going to downgrade to a browser made by big brother Google instead. Ok.

It shows up in the browser as a feature I did not enable to was not asked to enable. Being disabled doesn't mean anything when it shows up as an option and all I need to do is turn the feature on. It's like Microsoft adding a Copilot icon to my desktop. It's not enabled... unless I enable it, but it's still there. It still got added without my consent.

I don't want services to just be installed in my browser and show up in the main toolbar ready to go with a click of a button. Firefox has this thing called Plugins and Extensions, and you can go to a website and enable them with a click or two.

There are versions that strip out all of the google stuff, so I don't have to deal with new crappy features showing up in my browser. There's no difference between Google and Mozilla at this point if they're going to act the same way and do the same thing. The only difference is Google actually invests in WebKit
