To sign into Chatgbt I used my google account. Mozilla asks me "do I want to store info in persistent storage?" I click "learn more" about persistent storage. It takes me to a page that has zero mention of the words "persistent storage". That is a huge UX error. It says to me that really, you don't want me to know about persistent storage, and prefer that I remain confused and feel forced to agree to things I may not really want to, because you're making it difficult to understand what's actually involved. Not cool. Definitely now considering changing my browser after over 20 years.

Hi David,

What article were you referred to?

Hi Denys,

I bet David is referring to this article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/storage?as=u&utm_source=inproduct&redirectslug=permission-store-data&redirectlocale=en-US

I get the same message when logged into Proton Mail, and clicking Learn More directs to the link above. The phrase "persistent storage" does not appear on the page.

Hey dungeonbeef,

I was also thinking about that article, thank you for confirming. It tells about the same permission the prompt mentions, but I agree that the terms are confusing. To dispel doubts, persistent storage is explicitly mentioned in Firefox settings (Cookies and site data -> Manage browsing data):

Firefox keeps data from websites with persistent storage until you delete it, and deletes data from websites with non-persistent storage as space is needed.

I'll suggest to clarify the article.

To supplement, the corresponding screenshot is included in the article, though its relation may not be obvious.
