Hello

The "buttons" you're referring to are likely the "shortcuts" that appear on the Firefox New Tab page.

To enable Side Toollbar read that article Use the Firefox Sidebar to access bookmarks, history and synced tabs

The Bookmarks Toolbar is Hidden the bar at the top of the browser that shows your bookmarks can be easily toggled on and off. Right-click on an empty section of the navigation bar and select Bookmarks Toolbar in the pop-up menu and make sure it is set to "Always Show"
