Can't login using Firefox main window but can using Private Window???

Problem logging onto Zoho Mail with Firefox.

I have been using both Firefox and Zoho Mail for many years. Now, for some reason, Firefox seems to have a problem completing the Zoho Mail login from the same bookmark I have been using for years, or from a direct URL. The same Firefox installation cannot access Google Maps from a bookmark or directly using a complete URL, but does access some other applications as always.

Now the curious (to me, anyway) part. If I open a new private Firefox window, I can log into both Zoho Mail and Google Maps as I used to from the Firefox private window using bookmarks.

This helps me pinpoint Firefox as the problem – one part working, the other not.

My Firefox is up to date [Version 140.0.4 (64 bit)], and I have scanned all 1,350,000-plus files on my system for viruses and potential startup issues.

Should I reinstall Firefox? If so, how do I do that while keeping my bookmarks and password files?

If I use another browser (i.e., “Google Chrome), I can access both Zoho Mail and Google Maps with no difficulty. That is not a solution for me.

Firefox has been my foundation browser for decades. I don’t want to have to use anything else.

I searched and found a script to "refresh" Firefox. Did so and that seems to have solved my problem. Thanks for your help. Knowing you are around is gratifying.

Hi, it looks like it's something with cookies. Try to click the lock icon in the address bar and remove cookies for that website.

Tried that several times - doesn't seem to make any difference. The Zoho mail login form goes into a closed (apparently) loop in the Firefox login attempt but makes the connection and successful log in when using a new private window.

Attempting to log into Google Maps in Regular Firefox just stops - nothing on the screen. Bringing up a new private window and the login is immediately successful.

Weird or what???

Hi Tom, there are some other differences with private windows, including the possibility that some of your add-ons do not run there. If you check the Add-ons page (Ctrl+Shift+A), Extensions panel, the ones that can run in private windows have a purple circle with a white mask. The ones without that icon are inactive in private windows. Do you notice any differences there that might be relevant to how pages work?

Notice reply above. We don't know why (Poo!) but at least the problem is fixed.

Again, thanks for your support.
