I am suddenly unable to load Firefox on my desktop.. When I double click the icon, I see the circle spin for about 2 seconds, then nothing happens. I've unnstalled and reinstalled Firefox, but that didn't help. I can access it on my laptop, so it seems smth has gone wrong on my main computer. Any ideas?

Strangest thing happened! I haven't had time to try the above suggestion so I've been using Google Chrome instead of Firefox for the last few days. As they are very similar, I'd decided to just stick with Chrome so today I cloned my hard drive to save everything on it as a backup in case of an emergency. I tested the backup, once completed, and for some reason Firefox now works??? Not sure why, as the cloned drive is supposedly identical to the source drive (on which Firefox wouldn't load), but it seems to have corrected smth somehow. Anyone know why?

Did you recently uninstall an application that was using Visual C+ runtime components?

You can check for issues caused by a corrupted or incomplete Visual C++ installation that is missing runtime components (Redistributable Packages) required by Firefox, especially VCRUNTIME140_1.dll.

See "Visual Studio 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2022":

You may also have to install the Visual Studio 2013 Redistributable Package. You need to reboot the computer.
