When I first launch firefox, I see all the images on my Yahoo homepage (Yahoo is set to my homepage on firefox).

But, when I clear history, and re-launch firefox, not all the images are there. Sometime very distorted pages come up.

I have a Dell inspiron laptop, and I spoke with the Dell technician, who refreshed firefox--that didn't work.

Then he re-installed firefox.

That didn't work either.

He checked all firefox settings, and they are correct.

In addition, when I use firefox, and search by sender I receive a message indicating "an error occurred.. retry"

Again this does not happen in Chrome. I DON'T with to use Chrome as my default browswer; I have always used firefox.

When I "retry", the list from the senders I have searched does come up. But this was never an issue. I contacted Yahoo Mail help, and they suggested contacting you.

When I first launch firefox, I get all the images. But if I clear history and re-launch, may images are not there on my Yahoo homepage--just empty boxes.

My husband has an Acer desktop, and he does not have this problem. I don't know what the difference is.

I do not know what is going on--I would like to know what to do. Or will it resolve itself eventually (perhaps with the next firefox update?)

This is issue does not appear to happen with Chrome, but I use firefox as my main browser.

Please assist as soon as possible, as I indicated, I use firefox as my main browser.

I have attached some images.

Yes, it does.

I thought it was a Yahoo! issue, but my husband’s PC is not experiencing these issues with the Yahoo homepage or Yahoo mail.. now, I’m not sure what version of Firefox he’s running.

Ideas are welcome!

Thank you.

PS. This is the first time I used this forum, I simply replied to the email I received.. my apologies. As I said, this quite frustrating and an ideas are welcome!

I'm sorry, the troubleshooting page does not really help.. and a Dell technician (I have a Dell laptop) has performed those steps already.

As I mentioned in original question, refreshing firefox, also reloading firefox has already been done.

A Dell technician refreshed firefox, and also unistalled and re-installed firefox, as I mentioned.

When those steps were done, I lost my extensions, (such as McAfee Web Advisor), and even the technician had difficulty re-installing that extension after both refreshing and re-installing firefox. He could not even google or yahoo to come up--received and error message indicating the sites were threats (or words to that effect). And so I no longer feel comfortable trying to re-install them, since even the Dell technician had difficulty, as I mentioned.

I am still experiencing the issue today.

My firefox is up to date.

  • Do I have to wait until another firefox update is available?*

Your further assistance would be greatly appreciated. I wish I were able to actually chat with Mozilla, but I that is not possible, unfortunately.

As I said, further assistance would be greatly appreciated. Do you recommend I contact Dell and show them the trouble shooting page you directed me to? Even though one of their techs already tried those steps?

I await your response.

Thank you.

The responder was suggesting troubleshoot mode (was safe mode), not the troubleshooting page. You may save yourself a lot of trouble and time if you try a new profile. You can create one with Firefox open or closed.

As I mentioned earlier, this was already done by a Dell tech (I own a Dell PC).

He used the troubleshoot mode and worked with my profile (a new one).

Please note: NOTHING helped. In fact, it made things worse. He could not even bring up Yahoo or Google--he received errors indicate that the sites were threats (for viruses and malware). He finally got worked it out, but it took over 1.5 hours. And the issue with Firefox remains unresolved.

So, what you suggested has been done.

  • No resolution.*

Any other ideas? Do I have to wait for Firefox update?? Chrome works, but my preferred browser is Firefox most of all, and I am extremely frustrated.

I am familiar with web development, and coding, but am NOT a windows expert my any means.

Looking forward to further ideas. Thank you.

What exactly are you clearing from history and what time period?

more options

Entire history, and all time.

more options

OK, I should have also asked when you try to view the page again. I assume from that answer that it's the next day. Since you have tried a new profile and it presumably contained no extensions, that only leaves software on your computer (including a faulty browser installation) which could be responsible. At least, I can't think of anything else (except hardware acceleration which seems unlikely, link below).

I reload and view the page as soon as I clear history.. I am not quite sure what you mean by "view the page the next day."

Also, when you say "that only leaves software on your computer (including a faulty browser installation).." are you saying my PC a systemic problem, or just or just an issue with firefox? Firefox was re-installed, so I think the chances of that being an issue is somewhat unlikely.

If you think my PC has a general software problem, that is very worrisome. Is that what you are thinking? Such as corrupt system files, or such? Or just with firefox?

No hardware acceleration.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

My assumption was wrong. Why do you remove all history during a session? I don't know how that might affect a news page such as yahoo.

more options

My apologies. I do NOT remove history after every session.

Perhaps 2 or so times a day, and before shutting the PC down for the night.

NOT after every session.

I'm sorry for the confusion.

I chatted with a Microsoft agent earlier today who thought I should wait for the next firefox update. I obviously don't know when that will be or even if that will fix the issue.

I scanned the PC for corrupt files (following directions on the Microsoft) and there corrupt files that supposed were fixed. (Since you mentioned software issues)

I wanted to make sure I did it correctly so I verified that with a Microsoft tech, as I mentioned above, and he indicated I had done that correctly.

No change in firefox behavior though. The tech recommended waiting for the next firefox update and see if that fixes the issue.

Maybe I just need to wait and see what happens..

Hello. My apologies for bothering forum members again..

"Terry" indicated that I may have have software issues, including Firefox. The last comment was he wondered why removing cache should affect a news page such as Yahoo.. but it definitely does.

When "Terry" indicated I may have a software issue, was he saying that Windows 10 OS may have a problem?

I have not heard from anyone since "Terry's" last comment.

I would greatly appreciate any further comment on whether I need to re-load Window 10 or?

Thank you! I eagerly await your response.

more options

Yes, as I have posted before, the Dell tech (I have a Dell PC) did that (among other things--my PC ended up in worse shape for a while until he was able to fix the issues trying to resolve the firefox issue created).

It did not make a difference.

As I also mentioned, I checked for corrupt files and there were corrupt files, but supposedly they were fixed.

Do you think I have a Windows OS issue? And windows 10 needs to be reloaded? That may be the last and only solution?

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated! I wait for your response(s).

Thank you!

What I said was that I don't know how removing all history would affect a news page like Yahoo. Why remove all history during a session?

more options

My deep apologies for frustrating you, Terry.

I DON'T remove all history during a session.

If I leave the PC asleep for hours (as I might when I leave the leave the house) I may clear history.

And usually at the at night before shutting down, I tend to clear history.

That is all.

The interesting thing is that is that when I clear history (say, at night) and just see what happens if I bring Yahoo up again, the page doesn't load properly in my first post. This was not its previous behavior.

You mentioned that the last thing that might be possible is a software issues.

So my one and only question at this point is, in your opinion, is it a Windows issue and might I have to reload windows??

If you might provide and opinion on that, I would appreciate it very much. Thank you! I await your thoughts.

more options

Sorry, I can't offer an opinion on whether it is an OS issue. I don't have a Windows system.

Another responder mentioned booting into Windows safe mode with networking enabled. I have seen that mentioned several times but, of course, am not familiar with it.

Reloading your OS would be a major step and I wouldn't do it just for this issue. You could try using a different user account.

more options

OK! Thank you for your efforts.

I only mentioned reloading the OS because once a Windows tech told me after checking for corrupt files, and fond that there were, he said Window need to be reloaded.. which he did, without negative results, fortunately.

I am going to wait and see.. or perhaps contact Microsoft again.

Once again, thank you for your opinion!
