For some reason, randomly, and now this is occurring more and more frequently, Firefox will just hang and say that "Firefox is not responding," and I have to wait ~30 seconds for it to unfreeze and continue using Firefox. I have tried every potential solution that I could find on the Internet, such as disabling hardware acceleration, creating a new places database, etc., and I still keep getting these 30 second freezes on a pretty frequent basis. Do you guys know what might be going on?

We're sorry to hear that Firefox is crashing. In order to assist you better, please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A list of Submitted/Unsubmitted Crash Reports will appear, similar to the one shown below.
  2. Copy the 5 most recent Submitted Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.

Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.

(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

Maybe the hangs and freezes aren't being considered as crashes, because they eventually resolve, it's just that I have to wait 30-40 seconds for Firefox to unfreeze every single time these hitches hit me.

It's also especially evident on certain pages; for example, whenever I go to Rotten Tomatoes, it will always trigger a 30-second freeze. I'm not sure if it has something to do with certain multimedia files causing the problem, but that shouldn't be the case since I've already uninstalled Adobe Flash Player.

You can check for issues caused by a corrupted or incomplete Visual C++ installation that is missing runtime components (Redistributable Packages) required by Firefox, especially VCRUNTIME140_1.dll.

Install both 32-bit and 64-bit "Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019" downloads, (x86: vc_redist.x86.exe and x64: vc_redist.x64.exe) from https://support.microsoft.com/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads

You may not need the latter (32-bit version) if you use 64-bit Firefox. You may have to reboot the computer. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ In another thread, a user reported that a recent update of Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit (version 415) may be causing symptoms similar to the VC Runtime problem. If you have MBAE, it should have a setting to exempt Firefox. You could test whether that makes any difference.

I enabled the following option: Under Firefox Data Collection turn on Allow Firefox To Send Crash Reports.

Yet when it hangs, and I close Firefox, it' still not generating a crash report...

A hang means the program is frozen. As such it isn't doing anything.

It seems so weird, because Chrome isn't doing this at all. Honestly, I want to switch to Chrome or some other browser, but Firefox simply has the best text rendering by far, so I want to do whatever I can to stick with Firefox. I just don't know why it keeps hanging so frequently, it says that Firefox isn't responding, but after 30 seconds or so, it becomes unfrozen...
