I have a PC running MS Windows Pro. When I start Firefox from the desktop icon, it opens a tab for every bookmark that I have; this should not happen. Please advise.

You can check that those pages aren't set as multiple homepages.

You can check the homepage setting.

Firefox supports multiple homepages separated by '|' (pipe) symbols.
