Hello there to anyone who can help me with this problem that I'm having right now. Yesterday while watching and going through the videos on youtube, while watching a video, it suddenly started to lag and not move as smoothly much as before when I have on a higher quality like in 1080p 60fps or 720p60fps.

This has happen to me a couple times before when I couldn't find a way to fix it like when my my laptop was acting stupid and was resetting itself and showing a blue screen when it happen and had someone help me take it to the store and have it fixed and the reset my laptop or something and had to go redownload Firefox and I think the problem stopped working.

Yesterday and today I tried searching and looking up how to fix this and find answers that tell me to go to the about:config and change somethings to false or true whatever and it still has this problem. I hope changing it to whatever doesn't mess it up anything even more.

I thought I had to go update Windows or something since recently a couple of times the youtube videos get stuttery and not move as smoothly at times. I can't remember much this one but I either just close Firefox to hopefully that it goes back to normal or I have to update Windows to restart my laptop and it works and it goes back to normal.

But this time when I did all that and I try to update Windows from my laptop it was doing what it does updating installing or downloading yesterday. The problem is still there and the videos on youtube are still stuttering. And I try to see if there were more things to update there was nothing there and says its up to date.

I linked a video that has a 60fps option on a another browser Microsoft Edge to see if it works from there and video when putting it on 60fps works fine there. So this must be a Firefox problem or something.

So if anyone can help me with this problem. Please tell if there's anything else I can do to get these videos on youtube to work on Firefox in 60fps and hopefully can try to easily fix this and hope its nothing complicated to do. Or if there is a bug or something that's making these videos stuttering and everything please try to fix this problem that's going with me right now. Cause i don't want to have to deal with problem I had before again forever and/or if its permanent.

Hopefully maybe the next update for Firefox might fix this problem I have from these youtube videos, but I don't know. Whenever an update for Firefox happens sometimes, the videos on youtube start to stutter and not move as smoothly with putting it on 60fps and have this problem again.

Thank you if anyone has the time to look at this and hopefully someone can get me the answer to finally fix these videos that are freezing stuttering and stuff there.

Let's start with; See if there are updates for your graphics drivers https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration

Use these links to create a new profile. Use this new profile as is. Is the problem still there?

I don't know if that's a different way to check to see if the drivers are updated. I keep on checking on the settings on Windows and going to Update and Security and check for updates and says that I'm up to date.

I'm not sure about making a new profile for Firefox. I don't want to like erase anything that I have right now that I saved and organized like my history, tabs, my closed tabs that I saved and organized that I want to look back into later. I don't how to like copy all that back in there if I do a new profile just to check to see if the youtube thing works

Will refreshing the firefox browser will try to fix this? I think I tried doing something like that two times before but I can't remember why I did it before. Maybe it was because my browser was being slow before, I don't know.

I'm not sure if I want to do something like that right now since I have stuff I saved and not sure if I feel like it will do something to do them when I do that.

Refreshing Firefox {web link} is a LAST RESORT ! !

Refreshing Firefox -- easily fix most problems

If you're having problems with Firefox, refreshing it can help. The refresh feature fixes many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information like bookmarks and open tabs. Everything else, like user settings and add-ons, are removed. Note: Refresh saves your old profile to the desktop in a folder called Old Firefox.

Should of said this earlier but just to test this since I'm about to do this soon, does making a new profile erases anything that I have now or something when I go to the about:profiles thing? Will it like just give me a new file or something and the one that I have with everything right now is on it still? Just want to be clear.

Cause I trying to understand and listen to the instructions from the links that you gave me and I don't wanna mess up anything that I have right now or something.

What happens is; The old profile is moved to the desktop (see my prior post). Elements of the old profile are then copied to the new. This includes; bookmarks, history, and passwords. The rest is left behind, including settings and add-ons. Sometimes one of these is the problem. A refresh gets rid of it. (we hope)

I was thinking of trying to do the new profile and then try to do troubleshooting mode and if none of the two work I'll try to do the refresh firefox last if none of the two work get rid of this problem I have on youtube (and other sites like Twitch as well since the vid going to 60fps doesn't work either.

Should I just do the refresh firefox thing? Or should I try out the other two first and then do the the refresh firefox last if nothing works?

I've been kinda hesitant trying out to do the new profile or profile switching since I feel like I might mess up when I'm following the instructions there with one of the links you gave me there about that.

I haven't done anything yet since I was busy doing something else there but I might try to do the new profile thing and the troubleshooting mode later if anything finally works there on youtube.

. . . and then try to do troubleshooting mode

Do the troubleshooting mode first. If the problem is gone, it could be a setting. Or;

It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or it could be Hardware Acceleration. How to disable Hardware Acceleration {web link}

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> A)

In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Disable a few add-ons, then Restart Firefox.

Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All Of them.

If the problem continues, disable some more (restarting FF). Continue until the problem is gone. After, you know what group is causing the issue. Re-enable the last group ONE AT A TIME (restarting FF) until the problem returns.

Once you think you found the problem, disable that and re-enable all the others, then restart again. Let us know who the suspect is, detective.

Do this after trying troubleshooting mode.

I already tried turning off the hardware acceleration thing and closing firefox alreadyand coming back and it still didn't work and fixed the problem.

I have four addons there in my browser and I before turn one off before this happened. I already turned off one or all of the addons there and it still doesn't fix the problem. I have a add-on called the Malwarebytes Browser Guard and since you mentioned anti-virus and tried to disable it just awhile ago and closed firefox but I think I did this already before and it still didn't work there again.

If you can reply here again and have anything else to give me any more I can do or have more to say, I gonna try to do the troubleshoot mode there and then profile switching thing and if those don't work or do nothing that fixes the problem I'll do the refresh firefox thing last if anything works.

I'll try to wait a response from you there before I try anything if you have anymore to say.

Did you try troubleshooting mode?

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/diagnose-firefox-issues-using-troubleshoot-mode

Troubleshooting(Safe) Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes), any userChrome.css/userContent.css files, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem. If the problem goes away, that tells us one thing. If it does not, that tells us something else.

Sorry for the late reply. Was on doing something else. I'm just started doing the troubleshooting mode now and test it and the problem is still there when watching the videos when I put it on 60fps.

Which one should I do next? Should I do the refresh firefox thing or try to do that new profile? Or just do the refresh firefox only and forgot the profile switching or say new profile?

Using either option would be about the same thing. Go ahead with the refresh.

Okay then, I'll try to do that maybe later if I got time and tell you if anything works or not.

Alright I got a chance and tried and did the refresh on my firefox browser, but all my history and my bookmarks are now gone when I opened up firefox again. I thought this was supposed to keep all my history and bookmarks there when I did the refresh.

This really annoyed me and the problem that I have with the youtube videos when I put it on 60fps is still there stuttering and lagging even when I refreshed firefox there. So it must be something with firefox that needs to be fixed or something.

I have the old firefox data folder that's on my desktop now when this thing was refreshing. Is there a way to get them back on here? I think I saw that there's a way to copy and paste something onto the browser I have in now. Cause that's all I need there for this cause I have all the bookmarks and history before that I wanna go back on to. So if you can, Can you please tell me how to do it here so I can do this properly?

Also I went to the history or bookmark tab and I saw something that says import and backup and highlight and went into a another tab that says restore and has stuff in there and another thing it say Import Bookmarks from HTML.

Will these also bring back the history and bookmarks that I had before there?

more options

Sometimes during a refresh, the browser thinks there is a problem, so it does not copy the personal data to the new profile. But that data is now in the Old Firefox folder on the desktop.

Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox? Look inside. Look for the folder with the latest creation date.

I think all my stuff came back and I didn't need to do the the folder thing there. Earlier today I was about to go to sleep and I closed my firefox there but then I wanted to come back and look at something for a bit and all my history and bookmarks all of a sudden came back. Everything was all blank before but now everything is back now hopefully.

But I still have this problem I have on youtube there still when putting the video on 1080p60fps. But now when I go on 720p60fps it works alittle but there stuttering and slowness still going on in there when I tested watching a video.

I don't know what else to do to fix this problem. i tried everything I can. Maybe there's a bug going on in Firefox or something that needs to be fixed that needs to be checked out for it to lag from the videos I'm watching when I put it on something in that setting.

I don't know how this works, but maybe before an another update for Firefox maybe try to see get someone to fix this if there's a problem in anything going on that's making this problem that users like me have.

Are you trying to get or tell someone who like fixes some troubleshooting or bugs from Firefox to be aware and to see if they could fix this problem I have and to check that if its a firefox problem or something?

If it is then thank you. If there's anymore to do to help me with this, please come back here and reply if you got anything there to help me or something.

There was an update to Firefox there yesterday and I think putting the videos on youtube to 1080p60fps is starting to work there now. There's a little stutter sometimes but not all the time there when I looked into some videos I watched, But I'm not completely sure if its fixed because I looked into one video that kinda lagged for me there, but maybe it is. I have to look into some videos there that has that option to put it on 60fps.

Maybe it was a Firefox problem that needed to be fixed for an update there that some users like me were having, I don't know.

If you can reply to this. I just want to say thank you for all the help you could of give there. I just hope this problem doesn't happen to me there again.
