Hello! This is an odd one.

I often read stories on the app, and the app (most of the time) starts the page at the top. Doesn't matter if I was halfway through or almost down at the bottom of the page. 'Opening the app' is also a term I'm using very broadly right now, sometimes the page 'refreshes' if I lock the screen and unlock it a minute later, sometimes it can be me switching to another tab, sometimes it can be me switching to another app and then back a few seconds later. Hell, sometimes I'm just checking out my Recent Apps screen and then, boom, Top Of The Page. So, the app doesn't close, but the page behaves like it does. Site that it happens mostly on is AO3.

Add-ons in use are uBlock origin, Privacy Possum, Privacy Badger, HTTPS Everywhere, Bitwarden, Decentraleyes. Power Saving mode is enabled.

I'm guessing the app is cleared from memory when it loses Focus (you switch to another app or screen switches to standby). This is done more aggressively in Power/Battery Saving Mode.

When this happens, Firefox has to reload the page when it is next accessed. Perhaps an improvement could be made to the saved data so the viewport's relative position on the webpage is saved as well. This would work on some websites, but it won't work on sites whose webpages' dimensions change as more content is loaded.

In short, there's nothing you can do other than petition for this to be a feature in the future.
