Firefox will not open when being prompt to open and type of link (as the default app), It just gets stuck

I'm not quite sure what causes this, but I have reinstalled firefox, cleared cache, but everytime I try to open any sort of links (while firefox is closed) It simply gets stuck and does nothing, and I am forced to close it via task manager.
