Unwanted tabs keep opening up, especially on Facebook.
Unwanted tabs (as many as 10 last time) keep opening when I'm on Facebook (and sometimes Amazon) even though I don't click on anything. It's driving me nuts. How do I stop it? Thanks.

I appreciate all the helpful advice, but it turned out my old mouse was the problem. I bought a new one and that solved it. Thanks all for trying to help.

What is in those unwanted tabs? ads?
Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web Link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for a good ad blocker.
Occasionally they're ads, but mostly other Facebook pages. They keep generating sometimes once they start.
You can do a malware scan just to be sure.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.
- switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
- do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
Try to install a pop-up blocking browser extension (not all ad blockers have this feature).

That was very good work. Well Done.
Nice. Since I suppose a button went wrong in your mouse, keep it and then replace the button if your new mouse has other issues - they are very similar and can be easily desoldered with little practice. Or at least, if it's a USB mouse, cut or desolder its cable and reuse it to power other electronics (5 V from USB replaces 4x AA/AAA batteries' 4-6 V) or to fix another mouse (wear on cable is one of the most common issues).
