Hi,

I need to use a german authority website in context with firefox (68.10.0esr) to transfer data to the authority. After putting in the data and choosing a ZIP file for upload, a app (java) should open. This is a governikus secure software to confirm my identity by using a card reader and a trustworthy ID card. But the java app doesn't start. I use java 8.251. I have removed all popup blockers. The versions I use are recomended by governikus. I tried this with the microsft IE11 as well, doesn't work ... Could the problem be java sript? I have to activate it but I don't know if it is activated and I don't know how to activate

I hope you deliver the solution ;-)

Regards

You can't run Java applets with current Firefox release including 68 ESR.
Websites need to use Java Web Start (JNLP) to launch Java in a standalone window.

Firefox 52 and later releases only support the Shockwave Flash plugin and disable all other plugins.

Why-do-Java-Silverlight-Adobe-Acrobat-and-other-plugins-no longer work.

We have detected you are using the 64-bit version of Firefox which will not run the Java plugin. Use the Java Control Panel to find the installed Java version. More info

I use the 64 Bit version ... this do not support Java. Can I stepdown to a 32Bit version?

I talked to a person at the authority, she tried the procedure with her own computer and IE 11. She said IE11 works... but not with my equipment

Why are they still using Java as IE 11 is probably the only browser that supports Java and all other browsers stopped years ago. Oracle also has stopped supporting browsers apart from via JNLP.

The old Firefox 52.9.0 ESR was the last to still allow other NPAPI Plugins to run besides Flash Player from Adobe. Even then on Windows you needed the 32-bit version as Win64 Firefox 52.9.0 ESR only supported Flash and Silverlight then.

Since you use Windows you could trying run portable Firefox 52.9.0 ESR (it is 32-bit) to run the NPAPI Java Plugin installed on your OS. The portable edition can be run say off a usb flash drive or in a folder on system as it is self contained. https://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox-portable-legacy-52
