As now we can only separate paragraphs using hyphen-space, hyphen-space etc.,
I have now been testing with the  <hr>  tag to get a proper horizontal line;   doesn't work.

And I wonder if maybe it's color-related ?

I filed a bug report about not being able to quote : https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1630396

Thanks for reporting that issue. Now I see that it works and now know where it is located.

Does the br tag do a line break?
Looks like yes.

And the hr tag followed by p tag starts a new paragraph.

per "The second rule of Fight Club is: Always bring cupcakes."

Two Return clicks does the same.

test over for me

If only that HR tag would be visible

Any of you notice something else that has disappeared ?
Something I wanted gone for a long time and started a thread about
many years ago ?

(but I bet that this is just a glitch)

Now, if only they'd get rid of the   "Top 10/25 contributors".

After I had a good think about it,   I sent you guys a PM about this .....

I just posted (and deleted) my phone number, to see if I would get the "links not allowed" message.

No message .....

Had to pull a trick to post this, though.

And then FredMcD tried to post something (I know what it was) and got
locked out again !

See https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1646828#c16 Fred posted a series of numbers starting with 800 that looked like a toll-free phone number.

I now feel more or less responsible for Fred getting locked out .....

But then :

Thanks to what Fred posted, we now know what will happen to these scammers !

The only phone number I post in the forum is to the Do Not Call service set up by the American Government. I wanted to see if it would post. It did not. Sorry for the trouble.

P.S. the number I tried is to the 800 directory service in America.

A better test would be posting numbers separated by separators or even text to see whether this can trigger this deactivation as well. CSS code or crash report IDs or epoch timestamp numbers in a logfile might as well include a digit sequence that look like a toll free phone number and not only 800 triggers this. This should be done (actually should have been) by the SUMO developers before going for this quick fix.

You have nothing to be sorry for !
Thanks to you we now know what happens to these scammers when they post those numbers.

I am very reluctant to post here (or on the contributor forums) any of the "tricks" we have to enable posting links etc..

more options

It would be helpful to know what 'tricks' are needed for posting links, because it is common practise to use a link when posting information such as 'Server settings' for a server or url links to google help pages. I'm now wondering if I got deactivated because I posted a valid link.

I will tell you in a private message;   I don't want to take the risk of scammers seeing it.

I got deactivated possibly due to adding a link to Spectrum webpage for their server settings. After two days I was activated again and the first question was unable to post due to 'links' issue, but this time it had nothing to do with links and everything to do with file names. I ended up continuing the conversion using SUMO messageing which is a pain because users assume you know who they are and what question you are actually talking about. So it involves hunting down user profiles to be sure about what the question entailed.

I'm hoping that whatever they did, they reverse it and come up with a more workable solution.

Once upon a time back in the days of 'getsatisfaction' web forum, I was a moderator and could edit out phone numbers and delete duplicate comments or obvious spammer comments. Then upon moving to this mozilla site I had those privileges removed for no apparant reason, so had to use the method via the options in right column to report spam etc. However, at this moment I cannot even see this anymore. Does it still exist in your view? It would be helpful to know if this is something that is being denied after deactivation or whether it something new in the changes to website.

Silly me, it under that stupid dot menu. Very useful if needing to save space on a 'phone' view, but a pain in the proverbial when there is plenty of space on a desktop view.

Tried something and removed the result, as I didn't want possible scammers to see it.
