After removing addresses from the addressbook, addresses still appear in search

I had an issue whereby the addressbook became corrupted. So, I exported these files, moved the old file and re-imported them. I was then able to remove over 200 addresses that I no longer needed. Unfortunately, when I compose a new message, some of these domains are still showing up as options. For example, I have friends that worked at XYZ company, but I email them at private addresses; I want XYZ company and their domains gone from my addressbook. Where else is TB storing this data that it uses for composing a new message (ie: when it recommends addresses to use)? I would like to purge those domains, but not loose the other data I have.

I forgot to include, I'm running Thunderbird 68.6.0 (64-bit) on MacOS Catalina.

Lets see. On a mac. There is read only viewing of the apple address book and there is also a collected address book that collects addresses you send mail to. Those are the defaults, as well as any other address books you have created. My guess is the addresses will be in one of those if you have removed them from the personal address book.

I searched in all addressbooks available to my TB client. I do not see one particular address coming up in the Apple addressbook -- indeed, I had no idea that TB would consult the separate Apple addressbook.

So I'm wondering if I need to rebuild something -- I renamed the old abook file, imported my LDIFs and restarted TB. But is there a DB associated that needs to be rebuilt.

Did you select all address books in Thunderbird to do your search. That is what the auto fill of addresses in compose does.

Yes, I did. I went through today and re-deleted entries and now it seems to be working. Have no idea why that happened.

Thank you for chiming in, I appreciate it.
