How do I select all bookmarks?

Are you using the Library window (what used to be called the Bookmarks Organizer)?

You can open that using Ctrl+Shift+b.

When you click a folder in the left column, its contents are shown on the right. So you can select everything on the right side and drag/drop it onto a different folder in the left column.

Atlernately, you can select everything on the right side and "cut" (for example, right-click one of the selected items on the right side and click Cut). Then click the other folder in the left column to show its contents on the right side, then "paste" into that folder (for example, right-click in the blank part of the right side and click Paste).

I'm not sure if you can move bookmarks from an 'imported..' folder to another folder (the folder could be read-only), so best might be to use a copy and paste to get the bookmarks in the Bookmarks Toolbar folder like I posted on page one of this thread.

Hi graverholt, to select all bookmarks, you can use the same familiar methods you would use to select files in File Explorer. For example:

  • Click any item in the list and press Ctrl+A.
  • Click any items in the list, then use the Library window's menu bar: Organize > Select All. (In File Explorer, this is on the ribbon instead.)
  • Click the first one you want to select, then Shift+click the last one you want to select, and Windows/Firefox will select everything in between, too.
  • Click the first one you want to select, then press Shift+End to extend the selection to the end of the list.

At least one of those should work for you.

You can find "Select All" (Ctrl+A) in the Organize menu in the Library. Copy and Paste are also present in the Organize menu, so you can copy the selection to the clipboard. If you really want them on the Bookmarks Toolbar then you can select Bookmarks Toolbar in the left panel (i.e. go up one level to the parent folder). You can paste them in the Bookmarks Toolbar folder (paste is in the organize menu and in the right-click context menu). It looks like a long list and you may want to organize them in a few folders or delete some you do not need.

I see three folder in the screenshot that might have bookmarks from Google Chrome. The folder you currently have selected (Imported from Google) and in the left pane; a folder just below that folder named "From Google Chrome" and further down a folder named "Fra Google Chrome" (is that Danish for From Google Chrome?).

Did you inspect the other folders as well to see whether they contain useful bookmarks ?

Hi graverholt, what happens when you view the PDF? For example:

  • blank tab
  • error message
  • PDF appears incomplete
  • some other problem

For reference on configuring how PDFs open in Firefox:

It opens a completely separate program to view the PDF? Did you try the steps in the first article I mentioned: View PDF files in Firefox?

Yes, the PDF would open in PDF.js (which cor-el mentioned - "the builtin PDF viewer") which was built into Firefox in the Firefox 15.0 version back in 2012.
