I'm currently using firefox sync for everything, but I wanted to set up an instance for workpurposes only, but still using my regular account. Is there a feature that allows this, or is it possible to implement that?

If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox Help menu and select Submit Feedback... or use this link. Your feedback gets collected by a team of people who read it and gather data about the most common issues.

Ah sorry, i didn't get a notification for that answer. Thank you very much

Using sync, you can select what type of data to share (passwords, bookmarks . . . .) but its an all or nothing choice.

What you could do is use sync to 'prime' a new user and then remove them.

Note: All user profiles can access only one sync account at a time.

Too bad, I hoped to be able to keep a synching workaccount running. Is there a way to create an issue to add it to a future version?

In your mind, what is the difference between "work purposes" and personal use of Firefox?

more options

I wanted to separate the Websites and bookmarks I use, so my personal history doesn't affect my workaccount and vice versa.

When you connect a device to Sync there are 7 types of data which can be synchronized. Some are pre-selected automatically, Bookmarks and History are default types of data for synchronization. see the screenshot - about:preferences#sync typed in the URL bar - with Sync enabled to get that "Choose ..." dialog box

Both devices will need those items deselected from being included in the "Sync" process to keep them separate.

This only works as long as I don't have 2 devices to work on. I still wanted the work related data to be synched on all devices, just like the nonwork related data, but in a way I can choose which to be synched where

The best way could be to create a work profile and place it on a thumb drive. Then just copy it to other systems.

You could also zip the folder and send it via e-mail.

That sounds like a temporary solution, thank you. Is there a way to contact the developers to include such a feature in a future update?

more options

Currently, sync uses the user's e-mail address. For this reason, each user account can use only one e-mail with sync.

I don't know the code for sync, but I'm pretty sure it can still use the email adress if after the email authentication, there is a check for user instances, but I think the developers have more insight than me, that's why I wanted to give them a suggestion to include it in a future update.

If you de-select a data type like Bookmarks, that data won't be included in the data that is sent to or received from the Sync server. The Bookmarks saved at work will be on the Work device - only; and the Personal bookmarks will be only on the personal device.

Same for browsing History; not selected and not included in the Sync process.

All the other data types which are selected will be synchronized will be shared thru the Sync process.

Yes, that answers the highlighted part of the sentence, but the rest states, that I want to do that on multiple devices. Is it forbidden to give suggestions for future updates or why won't anyone tell me?
