Periodically the Firefox title bar turns transparent, and tabs are unresponsive

Periodically the title bar becomes transparent and the tabs are not responsive. I am on FireFox 71.0 64 bit. Only restarting the browser fixes the issue for a while - interestingly, Thunderbird also shows this odd behavior. Any ideas would be appreciated.
