Gmail account setup, how to do it now?

Veröffentlicht

Some info: - I'm on Linux OS and I'm running Thunderbird 60.9.0 (64-bit) - My google account is in two factor login - My gmail account as IMAP enabled

I tried these options but none work: - The default one as OAuth with google, I filled data in thunderbird all connection detection is fine and it's turn to OAuth, it ask me to login in, ask me my two factor step and finally ask me to allow. After allowed thunderbird it's still not able to connect and strange aspect thunderbird is not present on my authorized apps. - Second solution use normal password with a app password newly created for that. This does not work too and no usage of this app password found on my account. - I can't make my account accept less secure app because I'm not able to disable OAuth due to company auth policies.

And to finish the same account work well on my phone with the app BlueBird in OAuth mode and BlueBird is known in my connected app. I have a different gmail account on thunderbird that don't work on OAuth too but has accepted to work with app password.

I looked in google and gmail settings and I see nothing wrong.

What should I do?

День сумо your advice is a bit orthogonal to the reporter's issue.

Hideman, the issue is google broke oauth for us. So you want to update to 60.9.1 - do Help > About to update

Hello there.

It seems that logging in with one of the accounts does not go as it should, yes.

There is only one way to log in to g-mail.

Or would there still be a bug? Where this is not chosen to be solved internally.

I don't quite understand what you are trying to say.

But the 2 step authorization method that google broke for Thunderbird users is FIXED if you use version 60.9.1 or 68.2.1

Hello there Wayne Merry.

It seems that everything that is such a result goes from the wrong to the debug department. And NONFIX is also chosen. Because Firefox / Thunderbird does not have everything to say but apparently Google.

Problems come and stay and that is automatically placed with Thunderbird again. Perhaps the abuse of Google, for example, is the 2 step login process?

We come with answers but it remains the same. Perhaps typically through web use?

[Correct] This has nothing to do with anything any user has done (not on, but ...) TO their machine. And it was not a Thunderbird bug.

We know EXACTLY what change at google caused this, and we know EXACTLY what the fix was. The problem is resolved.

Hello День сумо and Wayne Merry,

I didn't post this thread to intend a battle and I supposed my description is enough to understand that I don't need a tuto but more a workaround or fix to the issue with google.

In addition I also said that the two factor auth work for my mobile email client called BlueBird so the issue is from Thunderbird (maybe by a update of google API but still Thunderbird issue)

Wayne Merry I will try to download manually the version you mention and try if it fix my issue but it would be great if distrib get the fix version in there repos because both debian and ubuntu have the version 1:60.9.0-1.

Thanks for your help I will come back soon with result of the test of the latest version.

Until your distro releases TB 60.9.1, you can apply the workaround that requires switching a pref. in Config. editor:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1592407#c22

Edit/Preferences/Advanced/General/Config. editor.

This should work for gmail IMAP accounts using OAuth2 authentication. Use the standard account password.
