First, set him up an email account. If using Gmail, here are instructions: https://support.google.com/mail/?hl=en#topic=7065107

After he has an Account/new Email address - and a password - set up Thunderbird with THESE Instructions: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-and-gmail

If you want his email to be separate from yours ... you also need to set up a separate Profile for him. You'll each have to open your own profile to check your emails. Here's How: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/using-multiple-profiles

If your ISP (Internet service provider) has issued you with an email address, then usually they allow you to create additional email addresses. You could create one for your husband.

Maybe your husband already has an email address of their own. In which case you could use that one.

Anyone can use gmail to create an email address that is not dependent upon your choice of ISP.

If you use the 'Menu Bar' toolbar - at top of window you wil see...'File' , 'Edit', 'View' 'File' > 'New' > 'Existing Mail Account'

If you use the 'Menu Icon' (3 lines) on the 'Mail Toolbar' toolbar: 'Menu icon' > 'New' > 'Existing Mail Account'

Enter name Enter full email address Enter password (same one as used to access webmail) Select checkbox to remember password click on 'continue' Thunderbird is pretty good at locating configuration settings for most commonly known servers. By default it looks up the Imap settings. At this point you need to choose whether to use POP or IMAP and change to the prefered option before clicking on 'done'.

Then make sure all the Account Settings are set up as desired before downloading emails.
