Hilfeforum

File upload causes Firefox to be unresponsive and must close browser to continue. Tried all the fixes. Other browsers fine. Several computers.

Please if you have any suggestions, I'll try them. I thought a new clean computer might solve the problem, but no luck there either.

Please explain the problem in detail. What happens? What are the exact error message(s) ?

Are you using an add-on or program for the upload? What website are you having problems with?

Are there any crash reports?

Separate Security Issue: Update your Flash Player or remove it using these links; Uninstall Flash Player | Windows {web link} Uninstall Flash Player | Mac {web link}

Note: Windows users should download the ActiveX for Internet Explorer. and the plugin for Plugin-based browsers (like Firefox).

Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built-in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the plugin only. Not the ActiveX.

Thank you for your response. No, there are no crash reports. I am not using any add-ons - it's just the Windows uploader, what comes up when you click on add photo or upload, depending on the page. I can't upload anything to anywhere, for instance, photos to Facebook, Viewbug, Zenfolio. The "Select file" window opens, usually with no info in it and it stops there. At the top it says "File Upload (Not responding)." The little circle is spinning in the Firefox window. The only way to get out of this is to click the x to close, and then it says "Firefox not responding, Close or Wait for program to respond." If I wait nothing happens and program never responds. So I have to close the program (Firefox) and restart it to use the browser. I still can't upload though. Restarting the computer does nothing as does starting in "safe mode" and clearing the cache and reinstalling. Upload works fine on other browsers like Edge, Opera. I even got a new computer and the problem repeats on the new computer the same way. I do not have any add-ons or personalization or anything like that. I tried all the steps but nothing makes that upload work. Unfortunately I really like the Firefox browser and I really want this to work.

How does one start a computer in "Safe mode"? I did actually get a brand new computer and hoped I would not have that issue there. But I do. The same file upload issues occur with Firefox. I can upload with Edge or Opera or Chrome with no issues on all computers I own. While I can't attach to email on yahoo.com, I mostly use upload for pictures to Facebook, Viewbug, Ello, Zenfolio, and Later. The problem occurs with all sites on Firefox, none anywhere else.
