'continue' screen

Veröffentlicht

Everytime I open Mozilla Firefox it shows a lightbox on the screen just saying CONTINUE. I just want know what is that because it wasn't there before and doesn't start to appear after a upgrade, just star all of the sudden. Is that normal, is that a virus, is the OS doing that...? Do I have to worry? What is it? Thanks.

Hmm, is there any chance you could post a screenshot showing what it looks like? This article has suggestions on how to do that: How do I create a screenshot of my problem? Please cut out or blur any sensitive information in the image file before attaching to your reply or sharing it online.

Check that Firefox isn't set to run as Administrator.

You can open the Properties of the Firefox desktop shortcut via the right-click context menu and check the "Compatibility" tab.

Make sure all items are deselected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window.

  • Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" should not be selected
  • "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" should not be selected

Also check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program folder.

You can check the homepage setting.

Firefox supports multiple homepages separated by '|' (pipe) symbols.

Hi flvia.fausto, thank you for that. I wonder if there might be more to the overlay, but maybe an ad blocker is removing it so you just have the mystery of a useless overlay.

Could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? In its Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, any userChrome.css/userContent.css files, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox. (On Mac, hold down the option/alt key instead of the Shift key.)

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" Help button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • (menu bar) Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any difference on your Google home page in Firefox's Safe Mode?

It start before I installed the adblocker or any other add-on and it appears even when I'm working on the browser. I open the Firefox, go to a website, start to write something, and bam! This page pop up on the page I'm working on. It may has a timer. I don't know. But I always close without click on anything and open again. It doesn't show on the second time.

What do you get if you right-click the Continue text and open the Inspector via the right-click context menu?

You may have to go up in the DOM tree until you reach the top most element of this pop-up (check what gets highlighted).
