I have two folders in my folder tree: spam and junk, both have that TB flame icon. I have junk set up to go into the junk folder so don't need the spam folder but cannot delete it. I unsubscribed from it but it's still there. When I do try and deleted it TB says 'philiplevine@1worldarttravel says Already Exists' philiplevine@1worldarttravel is my email address.

This sounds like you are using an imap mail account. Thunderbird does not use nor create a 'Spam' folder, so this folder must be a server folder. You cannot unsubscribe from seeing default imap folders - ones you have not created, so this would explain why you cannot delete/unsubscribe the 'Spam' folder. It is also the folder you should be using for spam/junk messages.

The 'Junk' folder is usually a default folder created for use in Pop mail accounts, so it should not be created in an imap account. What you need to determine is whether the 'Junk' folder is one you have put onto the server - it should be able to be unsubsxribed or deleted once you have set junk to go to 'Spam' or whether was a default folder moved from another server and also setup as a default folder. I have heard of this occuring for old verison accounts.

That worked - I just unsubscribed from the Junk folder and then pointed spam to the spam folder. Voila! the junk folder was gone. So thanks for that. I know that Junquilla is no longer available in the new versions of TB - but there doesn't seem anything to replace it.
