Since ver 65.0 auto downloaded, Firefox shows "Connection Not Secure" to patently obvious safe webpages eg: .org.uk; bbc.co.uk; Mozilla ! Most will not download at all. Some show text like files all aligned left. All these webpages connected normally prior to the update. How do I revert to version 64? PS I clicked the troubleshooting Info "Auto Add" button below on my previous attempt but the entire details completely wiped. I now see in my Inbox a "notifications@support.mozilla.org" message to complete joining but clicking that just brings up a webpage of left aligned text. So please respond by email

edit: removed your mail address from public display, since the only thing it will attract are spam bots. you will be notified per mail once somebody replies to the thread. (philipp)

hi ForestWhip, unfortunately this is likely due to your avast/avg security software tampering with encrypted connections. please either try to reinstall your security software or else follow the more specific steps for it at How to troubleshoot security error codes on secure websites.

For some reason you haven't answered my question :- How do I revert to version 64?

My AVG hasn't updated; it is Firefox that has changed. My AVG has never been a problem with Firefox before; why is it suddenly Avast's fault with your new software?

Are you able to advise whether Avast are aware of your new software not being compatible with their AVG and whether they are planning to update? This apparent indifference to your product not working with other software reflects badly on Mozilla's customer relations.

we have an article on the subject at Install an older version of Firefox, however i'm not convinced that this is a likely solution to the problem.

in my time as volunteer here in support, i have seen avast/avg (they are the same company by now with differently branded products) causing havok after firefox updates a number of times (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1492459, https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1468892 and others). you might have got lucky so far...

there is discussion in their support forums as well - i don't know whether they are looking into that: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=224885.0

rest assured, that mozilla isn't indifferent to these issues. we're actively trying to understand what's triggering the problem here and looking into some mitigations. but let me just say it's quite frustrating when you have a closed source third-party messing with your product out of your control. personally i'd just recommend switching to microsoft security essentials as a security provider, which is far less intrusive and doesn't need to be upselling you stuff.
