In Thunderbird, I reconfigured my new email address. In the process, I lost all of my old email messages from my old email address. How can I get these back?

In Thunderbird, I reconfigured my new email address. In the process, I lost all of my old email messages (including the drafts) from my old email address. How can I get these back? I did find all of this in my computer saved in files. However they are mostly unreadable. Is there a way to get my old email messages (including my drafts) from old email account back into Thunderbird? My version is 52.9.1 (32-bit).
