using the "bookmark this site" option

Since updating to FF 62.0.2 when I try to use the bookmarks option "bookmark this site", when I click on the drop down menu option for me to choose the "folder" I want to save the new site too it doesn't show me my main book mark category. It's the one that I imported from "NetScape" many years ago when it was going away and I changed to FF. Everything was working as normal for many years until I updated to the latest release. I had waited to do that update due to the bookmark "description" field being removed but finally decided to just back up my bookmarks to maintain access to that field and move to release 62.0.2.

Hi donP22, a lot of users have been asking about the folder list in the New Bookmark / Edit Bookmark dialog. It seems that the big three categories (Bookmarks Toolbar, Bookmarks Menu, Other Bookmarks) were "collapsed" back to the top level and need to be expanded by hand to access the folders within them.

Here are the ways you can expand them:

  • Method #1: double-click
  • Method #2: find a gray > icon to the left and click that
  • Method #3: single-click, the press the right arrow key on the keyboard to expand (once anything is selected in the list, you can navigate, open, close using the arrow keys)

Just in case we aren't on the same page about the folder list, here's a screenshot example:

Does that work on yours?

On the page you want to bookmark, do a right-click in an empty area of the page. At the top of the menu, press the Star. Hot key; <Control> (Mac=<Command>) D.

Or, Press the bookmarks Star on the toolbar.

This will place a bookmark in the Unsorted or Other Bookmarks Folder. To edit or move that bookmark, press the Star again.

A window will come up with the name of the page and its web address. You can edit these entries.

Next, select what bookmarks folder you want this bookmark in. If you do not see that folder, go to the far right of the Folder line, and press the down arrow. You can also create a new folder.
