I am told to update my firefox but when I try to download the process ceases after I have been asked to save the firefox installer.exp and I cannot proceed ??

HI, what is telling you to update ? You can update by going to Help --> About
If you are downloading from any where other than mozilla.org or firefox.com stop.
Try from here full version installer, can uninstall without loosing anything or install over top :
If can not download check that can download in IE and also download : https://www.malwarebytes.com/ and give self a scan.
Noticed your drivers, not sure if is age of card, but see if there is something newer than May 2015. https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html

I tried the full version installer and it seems to have worked fine. Many thanks to you all for your suggestions and speedy response
