Firefox is my default browser and I cannot download any attachments in my Yahoo email. I tries to sign into my Firefox account but it would not accept my password. I tried 3 times to do a password reset but I never received a reply to my email address. My email address is: ************@yahoo.co.uk. I had followed the Firefox help suggestions to fix my problem of being unable to open attachments of any format in my yahoo mail and cleared all of the Firefox Cache and Cookies. A blue folder appeared on my MacBook Pro laptop called "Old Firefox Data". Since this did not fix my inability to open any attachments in my Yahoo Mail (New Mail and not Classic or Yahoo Pro), I need help on what I should do. How do I return to my Old Firefox Data and Settings, fix my problem of being unable to open up attachments in my Yahoo Email and fix the problem of Firefox not accepting my account password or not sending me a link to do this? I do not know how to proceed and it appears that many of my settings are changed or gone. Even my default opening page of: https://uk.yahoo.com/ has gone. What do I do to resolve all of these issues. Many thanks, drrjm.

I tried that link and was redirected to; https://guce.oath.com/collectConsent?sessionId=1_cc-session_dd78a098-381b-4b90-813e-7a6840be6e03&lang=en-GB&inline=false&jsVersion=null&experiment=null

Before you continue... Yahoo is now part of the Oath family. Due to EU data protection laws, we (Oath), our vendors and our part . . . . .

Make sure you are not blocking content.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

One issue that seems more common lately is Firefox's Tracking Protection feature. When it is blocking content in a page, a shield icon will appear at the left end of the address bar next to the padlock icon. This article has more info on managing this feature: Tracking Protection {web link}

Hi FredMcD,

I restarted Firefox on my MacBookPro while holding down the option key. The dialogue box opened and I clicked "Start in Safe Mode".

I tested an attachment and the problem is still there. It will display on the right side of the mail screen if I click preview. However it will not download from the email or from Preview.

I am not sure what to do next.

Many thanks for your help.

Hi FredMcD,

I do not know how to remove my email address from my post. Thank you for the warning. Do you know a way that I can remove my email address?

Also, I have no idea how to restore my original settings after I followed the advice from Mozilla help. I cleared the cache and cookies and all of my settings changed. The Old Firefox Data in a folder is still on my laptop.

This even changed my default Yahoo Home page. Again, I do not know what to do to fix this. Any help would be most appreciated.

Sounds like the browser did a refresh. Do not worry. your old profile is safe in the Old Firefox folder on your desktop.

Let's work on the original problem first. Are you still unable to download attachments from Yahoo email?

Start your Computer in safe mode with network support. Then start Firefox. Try Secure websites. Is the problem still there?

Hi FredMcD,

While I was on the phone with Apple support, we restarted my Mac in safe mode and then opened Firefox. We moved through the opening and closing of secure websites and then attempted to download attachments. I can Preview any attachment but I cannot download any attachment either from the attachment itself or from Preview.

They had me forward several emails with different types of attachments to my @mac.com email. Every attachment opened without issue.

The Apple rep took over my computer and she went in and out of websites and opened and closed files so quickly that I could not follow everything that she was doing.

The conclusion was that my Mac has no issues. Her conclusion was that the problem likely came from Firefox but she also said that the problem could originate from Yahoo as well. She could not tell me which one was the cause but she then set Safari to open my uk.yahoo.com email and repeated the attempts to download multiple attachment types. None of the attachments would open in Safari and she concluded that it was likely a problem with Yahoo and not Firefox.

Does this make sense?

Many thanks for your assistance.

I suggest contacting Yahoo support.

Yes this makes alot of sense that it may be a Yahoo issue.

Just to follow up here on the Support account, you seem to be logged into this website just fine. Is there a url you are using to reset the account of another mozilla.org website?

Please share that url. Thank you!

Hi Guigs,

I still cannot open attachments in my Yahoo Mail but both my Firefox Account and my Firefox Mozilla support login problems have been solved. I have reset both usernames and passwords and my access is now just fine.

Do you have any idea how to contact Yahoo Support. I can only reach the Yahoo Community and they have not been able to help me solve this problem.

Also, my old Firefox Data and Settings is still in a folder on my laptop. How do I restore all of these original settings? That would be most helpful as I do not understand all that has changed. Should I be restoring all of my old Firefox Data before trying to solve my Yahoo Mail Attachment issue?

Any assistance would be most appreciated. Thanks.
