After Version update, cannot update addons, nor install addons, nor restore bookmarks

I appreciatte any help from the fellow members.

Using Firefox ESR 32 bit no problems, Win10 Home v, 1607, OS build 14393.1944 , 64-bit .

As soon as I updated to ESR version 52.7.3, problems started.

Problem 1:

Cannot update addons via https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/

Tried updating addons such as Https Everywhere, Ublock Origin, and got error messages saying:

""This add-on could not be downloaded because of a connection failure"".

Tried to solve this by: 1.1- erasing all cookies, cache, site preferences, offline storage -it di not help. 1.2 - removed one addons and tried to install it again - could not install it again, same error message. 1.3- then refreshing Firefox - no help. 1.4- then erasing the Firefox profile folder under Appdata - no help. 1.5 - Uninstalled ESR version, erased the Profile folder that remained, and installed the latest Quantum Version 10 fresh -no help either.

Same error when trying to install any addon install addons compatible with webextension.

Problem 2: Following problem 1 above, I tried the bookmark restore option on version 10. But Firefox freezes and does not complete the bookmark restore (from file with an extension .json).

Refred the new version 10, but no help. Uninstalled it, installed again the latest ESR version, but still does not work.

Any other ideas? Thanks.

But I still cannot install addons.

I managed to restore bookmarks. The places.sqlite file somehow got damaged. I followed instructions found on other topics and got the bookmarks going.

But I still cannot install addons.
