Firefox 52.9.0esr out <strike>July 3rd</strike> June 26, 2018 looks to be the last update for 52 ESR and the last version to still run on WinXP/Vista. Not counting any chemspill updates for security and or stability that results in say 52.9.1esr.

At this point Mozilla will have supported WinXP/Vista for over two years since Chrome/Chromium (and Opera) has dropped support back in April 2016.

also from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/53.0/releasenotes/

Windows XP and Vista are no longer supported. XP and Vista users running Firefox 52 will continue to receive security updates on Firefox ESR 52.

edit: date for Fx 52.9.0esr was changed.

That's encouraging to hear. When Mozilla says: "Time for a newer Operating System." that sounds great on the surface... but with a bunch of programs that work fine on xp pro...

It would be a nightmare to try to re-install all my happy and working quite well, thank you very much... (hoping that "early" programs will work on a later OS, etc.... ) .

I keep seeing "Ads" for some "transfer programs" that say that all your programs can be transferred to a newer OS, including all your settings and install codes, etc... yet my local PC Repair place says these xfer programs don't work. So... I'll continue to keep my old XP Pro SP3 program (with Kaspersky and Malwarebytes) If and until there really is a xfer program that will "port over" all my venerable programs that do what they're supposed to do just fine now...

Nat, frustrated about the whole situation...

I am sorry to say, that this is an unreasonable expectation - computers are great but they don't do "magic".

1. Today your upgrade path is to windows 10 but win10 won't run on majority of hardware that is running XP, 2. If you ever hear of such a transfer program don't believe it and don't trust it - expect it to have some major failings or bad effects. The only upgrade path is a new machine with new programs installed from scratch. (sure, you can transfer your files)

I loved, and still love XP. But it's time is passed.

Microsoft ended support of WinXP for consumers as of April 8, 2014. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsforbusiness/end-of-xp-support

The hack for more recent WinXP updates meant for say ATM's and Cashiers and such do not really count.

You can use Windows 7 with support up til January 14, 2020 and 8.1 til January 10, 2023. You could also dual boot with a lighter Linux distro (Xubuntu may still work ok) that uses a light desktop manager like Xfce vs say the heavy Gnome 3 or KDE.

It is not realistic for Mozilla to try and keep supporting the vulnerable and EOL WinXP as it was getting increasingly harder to keep build and test machines working for WinXP for as long as they have compared to three other major web browsers support of WinXP.
