Suggested alternative to save website in truly SINGLE file once MAFF is discontinued?

Just got the note that saving a website to a single file such as MHT (or MHTML) is no longer supported after Nov:

chrome://maf/content/integration/convertPage.xhtml

The "Save as "single" html" option always creates an *.html PLUS the annoying folder *_files with everything else. This makes it unnecessarily difficult to move saved pages around, or to share those. It is important to be able to save a complete snapshot with original web link and timestamp due to the dynamic nature of many websites. WHAT OPTION DOES Firefox offer to save web pages into a single file again, that can be opened w/ FF (and other browsers)? What would be the problem to e.g. combine the "single" *.html PLUS the *_files folder into an archive, as w/ MAFF?

The suggested "Save Page WE" extension doesn't quite fit that bill. Maybe I have configured it wrong, or used the wrong option ("Save Complete Page" sometimes still leaves a few content items out). Also, I very much liked the origin link and timestamp at the top of a page when opening an *.mht or *.mhtml file - the new notification bar, which has to be activated manually for the new "Save Page WE" extension, no longer shows the link to the original at the time of saving the single *.html file. Finally, several pages cannot be saved this way: "Save Page WE - cannot be used with this page".

I agree w/ a couple of other posters: why try to fix what has been a stronghold of FireFox for over a decade: it's great add-ons and extensions - esp. the ability to save a web page to a SINGLE file. This ability truly made me settle on FF as my favorite and default browser ever since it became available.

Please let us know of a better, simple alternative, and/or intentions to fix the "Save Page WE" extension to match the capabilities of the "save as MHT" w/ MAFF. Or better, please revert your decision to abandon MAFF (at least keep the "save as MHT" functionality).

THANKS!
